Last to post wins

This worked quite well on another forum site.

It may float or sink on this one. We'll find out.

Don't ask what you will win being the last to post, it will be something useless.

But have a go anyway.

I'm last to post so far. Am I a winner?

I feel like I'm just behind you, tonight, by 50 minutes, by the time I click 'Reply'. [Grinning LRC]

For anyone aspiring to be a writer of any sort, surely being a good storyteller must be the first requirement.

Are there other people's writing you like more?

Even when I was young, I liked songs that told a story.

When I next go looking for more books, I'll search for his. Somehow, I haven't yet read or heard any of his books. Some of the titles (in my quick google search) have me wondering if he inserts too much religion for my liking. I don't particularly like when the book is all 'Good' vs 'Evil', & it's made very clear who is 'Good' & who is 'Evil' & predictably, that 'Good' will win.

It may make reading more difficult, harder to follow, but I actually like when there is more ambiguity, & uncertainty.

It's getting pretty warm here today. I'd love to go for a swim today, but I need to be here to call my PDr after lunch.

My ceiling fans & drinking cold water, wearing sleeveless top & shorts will have to be enough. it's likely I'll have a cool shower later, too.

Hope you are having a good day.

When I did a quick google, I entered "Clive Barker books". This type of search is not in depth about the plot or themes of books. Some of the titles made me wonder if he does the 'Good vs Evil' thing.

I just go through so many books, listening as I do, even doing other things while listening. It's not like sitting with a paperback, turning pages, with your attention so focused because it's in print & your eyes have to be on the print to read it. Listening I don't have to have my ears always pointing at the speakers, & standing, or sitting to listen.

I don't think my interests are wide enough. & as much as I enjoy science fiction, it doesn't seem broad enough either.

I'm feeling I want more, or different.

I was rather surprised by a brief rain shower last night. not enough to cool things down, so the night stayed warm & muggy. & today, we had a very little rain in the afternoon & I thought it would stay cloudy for some hours, but then, all the cloud seemed to clear clean away while we were in a grocery store for ten minutes. That was a surprise, too.

Pleasant dreams

For Clive Barker - some are, and some are not good vs evil. And some the ones you think are evil are good.

do you like reading biographies?

Hi Wolfie, or (as I had intended to ask) do you prefer s/wolf, not even a capital 's'?

I have only read a few biographies/sutobiographies. I can't seem to 'get into' many genre like I do when I listen to sciemce fiction. Occasionally I find some unusual sort of book interesting. It might be a a book about an area of science, or the senses, or a narrow topic, like how the colours on a painter's palet were developed, or DNA, or some aspect of human behaviur... not usually bedtime reading.

Often, I wonder why, because I retain so little of what I've been reading.

Or I might go & find some poetry.

I would like to hear plays, with some narration & a little sound effects thrown in, but I am finding it difficult to listen to dramatisations most of the time.

I have found old Twilight Zone episodes made for radio & have enjoyed them. Because the sound volume fluctuates so much, they are also not good for bedtime reading.

Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs fight; there's plenty of you to share.

Aw, it didn't rain all day.

But I cancelled my plans, staying home anyway.

Later, after dark it begins slow & light.

Now it's late, I can hear it steadily falling all around,

Soaking into the garden & ground,

Like we really need it!

I'm off to find my floaties,

& the tree with the big leaves.

Like umbrellas & row boats

So, you can watch me float on by

My red fur in green, fluffy & dry.

An old gray small wolf, so weathered and wise,

With a coat that's now dull and lacking in shine,

But the strength in his bones, still burning inside,

As he walks through the woods, his heart full of pride.

*    Giggles

My fur's no longer as red as my picture implies;

& I'm no longer up to catching those flies;

The bones creak & ache; bits of me sag & jiggle,

My memory doesn't store; yet I still get the giggles.

It's not that I either laugh or I cry,

But that I do both to get by.

The poem in the previous post of mine, I had intended to title, 'Rain'.
