Chinatown (1974)
A 'Sam Spade' type film noir starring Jack Nicholson (who ends up with a sore nose) and Faye Dunaway. It's double-dealing in the orange groves of sunny California.

Kojak - The Marcus Nelson Murders (1973)
This was a stand-alone TV movie that started the whole Kojak thing. Interestingly enough it was based on a real case, One that made use of the famous Miranda Warning standard practice in the US
"You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand?
Anything you say may..."
