A song to express your feelings

At this hour, I find myself particularly vulnerable because I am heavily sleep deprived, and my brain can't really process. I have been awake for 21 hours and 12 minutes straight after a string of nights of only a few hours' sleep. I don't feel well, nor do I feel sleepy. So, I am listening to the soundtrack of my life entitled "Walkabouts" and right now, the perfect song to describe what I am feeling (at least the chorus of it) is Madness by Muse. Has anyone ever felt like they could communicate more if they did it through the songs that already exist? I challenge us to have a conversation consisting of song quotes.

So, dedicated to my depression; here I go...

Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I, I can't get these memories ooout of my mind, and some kind of maaaadness has started to evolve. Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad... And I, I tried so hard to let you go-ooo, but some kind of maaaadness is swallowing me whole, yeah....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I have finally seen the light. And I have finally realized, what you mean....

Ooh oh oh

[MODERATOR'S NOTE: Hi everyone, just a reminder that song lyrics are copyrighted material, and we (as in BB) can get into trouble for reproducing them without permission.  If you could just keep to sharing song titles, or one or two lines from the song at most, rather than whole lyrics that would be great - that way we can keep this thread open. ]

Thanks Moon...you get it!

"...when you need a friend. I'm standing right behind, like a bridge over troubled waters...I will ease your mind"

I'm getting goose bumps all over...truly words of inspiration and support...

Hey Frank;

Words and music can be direct links to the past, ergo...massive triggers. I too suffered with this malady. A friend helped me to overcome by his interest in my era of music. It's been a relief and wonderful listening to songs without getting anxiety.

Hey Sara and team,

Hell yes to music being a trigger. Sometimes it will cause me to shut down and relive unpleasant moments in time. I won't know it's a trigger till I hear it. Most of the time the songs are not in my music 🎶 library, but they will play on the radio.

The lyrics to Today by Smashing Pumkins are running through my head.

"Today is the greatest day I've ever known. Can't wait for tomorrow, I might not have that long"

Today, I am interpreting the lyrics as a reminder to live in the moment, but I can also see them to be interpreted differently depending on how I feel.

Today is the greatest day I've ever known. I have read that: today is the oldest I have ever been and the youngest I will ever be again.

This is my tribute to Today. Hope you make the most of it, the best you can 💘

Oh Frank I loved your post!!

If I can quote;

'..today is the oldest I have ever been and the youngest I will ever be again' and 'Today is the greatest day I've ever known. Can't wait for tomorrow..'

What a ripper! These are going on my fridge!

With the music triggers, I still have my issues and leave the radio and CD/thumb drive player off in my car. I had a bad experience travelling thru Sydney a while ago and this was one of the contributors. It's a work in progress...

I wish you and your family a wonderful Xmas, and your New Year is full of abundance in everything great and small.

Love Sara xo

I have so many songs that I could quote to reflect how I feel and where I am at. My favourite at the moment is Michael Buble's Best of Me. By way of explanation, I am struggling with ascertaining/balancing how strong my commitment is to my partner, vs my family/siblings vs my strong emotional commitment to my voluntary work in a third world country (which neither my family nor my partner is interested in)

How Far I'll Go from the movie Moana. I always feel like I just need to give up my life working in a professional environment and do what I really want to do, but too scared to do that because it's such a big change. But the thought is always there, nagging, while everyone else seems to be doing just fine.

An oldie but a goodie "The Boxer" Simon and Garfunkel sums me up well I think.
