A song to express your feelings

At this hour, I find myself particularly vulnerable because I am heavily sleep deprived, and my brain can't really process. I have been awake for 21 hours and 12 minutes straight after a string of nights of only a few hours' sleep. I don't feel well, nor do I feel sleepy. So, I am listening to the soundtrack of my life entitled "Walkabouts" and right now, the perfect song to describe what I am feeling (at least the chorus of it) is Madness by Muse. Has anyone ever felt like they could communicate more if they did it through the songs that already exist? I challenge us to have a conversation consisting of song quotes.

So, dedicated to my depression; here I go...

Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I, I can't get these memories ooout of my mind, and some kind of maaaadness has started to evolve. Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad... And I, I tried so hard to let you go-ooo, but some kind of maaaadness is swallowing me whole, yeah....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I have finally seen the light. And I have finally realized, what you mean....

Ooh oh oh

[MODERATOR'S NOTE: Hi everyone, just a reminder that song lyrics are copyrighted material, and we (as in BB) can get into trouble for reproducing them without permission.  If you could just keep to sharing song titles, or one or two lines from the song at most, rather than whole lyrics that would be great - that way we can keep this thread open. ]

Here Comes the Flood - Peter Gabriel

(Favourite version is the Guitar Center Sessions live one. It’s quieter and more understated than earlier versions. Was just listening on my phone and the cat started to purr more loudly and pushed her nose into my phone. Definitely some sort of response to music).

Hi music lovers,

For my last post for 2023, I want to “Wish You Well”

There are several songs with this title and 2 of my favourite are by Australian artists.

The obvious is Bernard Fanning…

Restless future burnin' bright
The past is holding on so tight
I never heard the warnin' bell
And I just want to wish you well
I just want to wish you well…

But my favourite is a song by Emma Louise, a Cairns artist. The version sung by Katie Noonan is possibly the most beautiful song ever sung… she is sublime.

There he is
Playing in his band now just for kicks
And I shuffle my way up to the front row
Standing still
I can see him singing with his eyes closed
I hope you keep singing with your eyes closed
Woah-oh

I can listen to Katie Noonan for hours and every day. It’s medicine for the soul.

Oh even though on my heart breaks, I wish you well…

Goodbye 2023, wishing you all well, Fiatflux.

This Depression - Bruce Springsteen

Emerald Flame - Bernard Fanning

Through sacred fields fallen fallow
We build the monument to sorrow
Step into this vacant future
With a desperate Alleluia
All to light the Emerald Flame beneath your brow

Bernard Fanning, an amazing singer songwriter.

This one is a bit outta Leftfield 😉 as it has no lyrics, it's just a general me (solitary, wondrous, sad, beautiful) vibe: Melt by Leftfield.

“When you're happy, you enjoy the music but when you're sad, you undestand the lyrics.”
