We recognise that many of us here in the community are feeling scared, worried and overwhelmed about Coronavirus (COVID19).

As a result, we created this thread to allow people to come together here during those difficult times and encouraged those wanting to share or seek support to do so here in this space.

It was important with this thread that we maintained perspective and supported each other as best as we could, medical, scientific and public health experts around the world have and still are working hard to contain the virus and treat those affected.

Hi Matchy,

I'm sorry to hear that. Did he have the Astra Zeneca as that was one of the risks but rare.

Hi Mark, It's scary times.

We just do what we're told and hope for the best, was that from booster or original vac? Jt must be very stressful for u having Ur brother had that experience.

I am hearing many ppl feel sick after the booster but I'm sure ma y ppl also feel OK.

I wander if there's a difference between moderna and Pfizer.

Stay safe all x

I know the side effects and possibilities. When it's someone you know and very close to you it is a shock and does effect my mental health even more.

Yeah bet it would be Matchy.

How are things are where you are anyway , any Covid around or ?

l'm not crazy about the booster and tbh l'll probably stall a mth or two Omicron may well have fizzled by then. Not around people anyway except locally for a very fast shop and thankfully we still have very little where l am, laying low nonetheless through this one let me tell ya.

Hi Matchy,

I can understand that, you must be upset. Is he OK? I hope he recovered all right, a nasty thing to happen and frightening.

Hi randomx no covid here at the moment in the small towns where I live that I am awsre of.It seems pretty normal here.It is a different sorry in the big town with a couple of cases and people seemed to be more scared and they have stripped the supermarket shelves bare.I have to go into the big town to take my kids to appointments and things which I dread these days.I still haven't got my booster as I have been busy with kids during the holidays which now have been extended by 2 weeks. We can't just continuaaly have booster shots can we?

Hi Hanna my brother seems ok now but he has taken the next 2 years of work which I thought was a bit strange as he is a minister. His wife is still working part time as nurse at a hospital.I thought their was something wrong when I tried contacting him and I didn't get a reply but my brother can be like that. One of the blood clots moved that was near his heart and he collapsed in the hospital. They said he was very lucky to survive.I understand people now who don't want to get the vaccine and are scared to.We should be kind to these people and not having the society split in two.

Definitely mark. I'm very scared about the side effects and reluctantly got vaccinates. How is Ur brother, that must be so scary to have that so close. I hope Ur brother is OK and I also question the safety of the vaccines.

Hi Matchy

That must have shaken him up badly, maybe two years off will help him recuperate, it would have affected him physically and mentally.

I think everyone has to weigh up the risks and benefits. I would have preferred the Pfizer but in the end decided for me the risk of the virus outweighed the risk of Astra Zeneca. I will have a booster in February.

I guess I was working in hospitals when the HIV-aids virus was rampant and a needle stick injury was a death sentence, and young men were dying everywhere, and it was such a relief when the scientists worked out treatments. So I'm thankful for modern medicine. I have a friend who is a microbiologist and she said the world wide collaboration on developing the vaccines has been incredible.

So people have to make up their own minds. I figure life is full of risks and we're in danger every time we drive the car, so I'll get vaccinated and exercise sensible cautions with the virus especially because of the demands on hospitals, but I'll still try to make the most of being alive! I don't want to hide away in fear.

Maybe your brother will do a bit of part time work when he is feeling better. He must have had a terrible time and no wonder it had a bad effect on you! That must have been dreadful for you all. I'm sorry you all went through that.

Hi sleepy my seemed ok the other I saw him but I don't know if it will happen again.I think the vaccines have been rushed in which probably they had to be.But it is not a real good vaccine it dosnt stop you getting covid or spreading it.Its selling point is that it that you might not get as sick from covid and keep you out of hospital.I have a break this week from the kids so I might see if I can get my booster this week if any are available here.I don't blame anyone being scared of getting the vaccine. My 10 y.o son can get it from tomorrow. Its a lower dose but having doubts wether he should get it.
