Mine is starting to affect my driving. I know it’s all in my head and sometimes I can overcome it but it’s hard. My anxiety also gets in the way of other daily activities as well.

Anxiety affects so many aspects of my life.

it affects work, I don’t like leaving the house, I don’t like social occasions/events where I don’t know the people well, I don’t like shopping, I get really nervous going to the doctors & now it’s affecting the management of my type 1 diabetes as I get stressed if my numbers aren’t perfect.

I’m scared to speak to strangers, I won’t ring people or places I am not familiar with. If I have to go somewhere new, I have to use street view on google maps to research what the building looks like so I can find it when I arrive. Otherwise I panic.

its seriously ruining my life

For me, anxiety affects these activities...

1.Just like you BigBlue, I find it very difficult to go to medical appointments and have testing done. There is certain testing I need to have done and I find it impossible to manage my anxiety while awaiting for the result so I just do not have the testing done. Not kidding, I need to be tranquilised while awaiting results and since that's not going to happen I cant bring myself to go to the appointment.

2. I don't make plans of any description as I never know how I am going to be when the time comes. Missing out on a lot of life due to this.

I am working on it.....

Good topic as I am still learning to cope with anxiety and trying to find my triggers.

for me I get anxiety at,

  • Work
  • When trying to sleep
  • When leaving the house
  • When socialising
  • Talking to people I don’t know
  • Even getting fuel can do it
  • Health concerns set me off the rails
  • People that don’t stop talking can often increase my anxiety

I am sure there’s more but that’s a start

Hi Matchy, thanks fr sharing. So sorry you didn't get much sleep. I hope you can accomplish all you need , even with the anxiety. Sometimes I just watch mine and realise it won't kill me. I know it's not easy 😞 I hope you sleep better tonight. You deserve to have a great night's rest tonight, take care of yourself and hope you feel better.
