Has anyone ever woken up feeling disorientated, not knowing who they are or where they are?

What helps in these moments?

Hello Dear MichelleMumof_2,

A very warm and caring welcome to our forums,

I’m sorry that is happening to you…It sounds like it would be very confusing for you..

Its never really happened to me, except when I’ve woken from a night terror, but I just wanted to call in to welcome you plus also gently urge you to reach out to your Dr.  and let them know how this is happening to you,  to rule out any medical problems….or if it’s anxiety causing this feeling for you…

Here when I can be if you feel  to talk some more,  has this been happening to you for a long time, or do you think something maybe has happened to trigger these feelings?..

My kindest thoughts Dear Michelle mumof_2,

Grandy..

Hi MichelleMumof_2!

I have experienced this a bit over the years. It sounds weird, but because I know I'm confused I know that eventually I will figure out where I am and what is going on. I just breath deep to stay calm and give myself a few minutes to adjust by staying still. It usually only takes a minute or so.

While it usually happens when I'm staying somewhere new such as a hotel, but it also happens at home too.

Do you sleep walk by chance?
