So I clicked a thing

And finally admitted I need support.

I've been through my fair share of battles during my life. I'm now in my mid 30s.

My story isn't important right now. What matters is that, while pretty drunk the other night, I completed an online assessment with another website. The scale has normal/healthy and mild in the non-clinica range, and moderate and sever in the clinical range. Here are my results:

Moderate:

  • depression symptoms
  • generalised anxiety symptoms
  • panic symptoms and panic attacks

Mild

  • social anxiety symptoms

The funny part is, with this whole lock down looming in Australia, I'm looking forward to working from home. It's like the world is showing me my desired workplace. Odd silver lining, I suppose.

I don't know exactly what I'm looking for by posting here. Maybe some like souls? Some sound strategies and advice? Regardless, if you made it this far, thanks for reading 🙂 I look forward to trying to get involved in this community.

Hi,

welcome to beyond blue.

do you know if the test was a K10 test? the test that I did was here at the beyond blue web site. Secondly, did it give you any advice on what to do next?

as for what you are looking for ... you could look at the threads here on grounding and mindfulness. If you have access to libraries online, there are a number of books you can look at as well such as the "the happiness trap" - that one is available in my library as a ebook. there are also apps you could look at such as headspace, calm, and virtual hope box.

I've looked at the K10 test before - this one was different. I'll look into your suggestions, thanks!

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow about tinnitus that is stupidly disruptive to my life at the moment (I assume due to stress). I'll mention the results of the assessment to them too.

Hi Athena_

That's great that you're seeing a Dr tomorrow (not great about the tinnitus, I hope they can do something for you!). Definitely mention the assessment results, and your Dr may get you to do another assessment while you're there. Some online tests aren't the most valid, and can even make you feel more stressed by giving you incorrect results! Your Dr will be able to give you more info, and hopefully some good advice to help you with and depression or anxiety symptoms.

From your post, I'm wondering if you're searching for a bit of a community? Some people to connect with who are going through similar things, and some extra support? If so, you're in the right place. Check out some of the other threads if you haven't already - there's some that are just general light-hearted chats where everyone can interact.

It's great that you're finding a silver lining in all of this too. Our lives have all changed quite dramatically, and pretty quickly! Keep posting and reaching out to other members on the site if you find it helps. It might sound corny, but we really are all in this together at the moment!
