Hi, I would really like some advice/support to what I'm going through at the mine, I recently had my parents visit me from overseas and my father took unwell, it was a terrible experience for me, since then I have been to see my GP and a Psychologist to get some help as I'm very down and anxious about life in generally, the doctor has given me some Anti depressant tablets to which I'm at week 3 of taking them, my biggest problem is I cannot sleep at night and its effecting a lot of things in my life, has anybody gone through this, does anxiety cause this and what are good remedy's to help, I'm trying everything I can such as non prescription sleeping tablets and going to gym but nothing seems to be helping me, I would be much appreciated to hear from anybody in the same situation or can offer me some advise and encouragement, thanks in advance

Hi Jay,

I have been taking prescription sleeping tablets that help a lot, I'm going to my docs this morning and asking to change the ADs she has prescribed as I don't think they are helping me, thanks again for your support in this for me, it means so much to me.

Well that's good to hear, I only just came off my sleeping tablets after being on them for some time and i am still sleeping well so far so hopefully that will be the same with yourself also being in constant checks up with your doc will help a lot as well.

thanks Jay, I don't know who/where you are, all I know is that every response I get from you encourages me so much and it is very much appreciated by me, I hope some time not so far away that I can be off the same encouragement for people as you have been for, thanks again Jay

No worries at all Tim, i joined this forum looking for help as i seemingly felt i had no where to go at one point and alot of people offered me advice and made me feel a lot better, I think the big thing is you generally will find someone who has gone through similar to what you are experiancing and that in itself can make you feel a little at ease knowing that its not just you. I'm sure you are helping people just by having this thread, not everyone can post so they will read and get comfort. All i can suggest is keep replying back here with your progress or if it gets tougher, I personally check Beyond Blue morning and night or at the minimum, at night. Best thing to take from all of this is the fact you are doing the right things looking for help, and that is the first step in recovery.

Always happy to talk mate:)

Thanks Jay, I'm keeping going every day and taking the strength from talking to you and the forum readers that as you say may be going through the same thing and might not be able to reach out, my sleep is still not so good however I'm trying my best to keep positive and to go with it and take the advice from my GP and psychologist that I will recover and be back to normal but it will take time and that I must hang in for that time, so to anybody out there reading this we must hang in its all we have, thanks again Jay for being a mate, it means so much.

Hi Tim,

That's exactly correct, you are helping people and you won't even know it. It very good you are staying positive, it sounds very cliché but it helps a lot, and the fact you understand it is a process to get better and get back to your normal sleeping routine is another positive to take from it. It shows you do not want to rely on sleeping tablets which is great news. I have been off my sleeping tablets for the last 3 nights and I am sleeping ok, haven't had the best sleep I've had on sleeping tablets however I enjoy waking up and not being out of it from the tablets. Much like yourself however, my psychologist is helping immensely and I hope they are giving you tools to start using before trying to go to sleep that will get you back on track.

Hi Jay, thanks again for your words, I'm still taking a small mild tablet at nite to help with sleep, I was wanted to write that last nite I sleep well and feeling good this morning about life, I hope somebody out there is reading this and if they are going through the same they can read that there is progress and things can and will get better, this is my hope that my story goes longer and further than me and helps another person
