Obsessive thoughts

I have been suffering with anxiety and depression for the last 2 1/2 years, I have been on medication and have recently changed ( 1 week ago ) I am trying to battle these constant thoughts in my head. Everything that I do is a struggle. i have a major fear of passing out, I don't know why it scares me so much. It's constant in every thing that I do, I find it hard to do most things without having that thought in my head.

I am taking medication at the moment and hoping that it kicks in soon! My panic attacks have lessened which is great but the constant shakes from inside and foggy eyes and anxiety especially in the mornings still hasn't gone! Has anyone else experienced these feelings???

Hi Stephanie,

Welcome to the forum!

I also have anxiety (OCD), which used to be chronic. Changing meds can cause temporary worsening of symptoms, unfortunately. Keep taking the dose of this medication your doctor prescribed, and always be guided by him/her. If you're concerned, call your doctor and make an appointment soon. This anxiety over your health seems to be a major issue at the moment. Here is a great resource I was referred to several years ago to help me: http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/infopax.cfm?Info_ID=53 Don't worry about the label 'Health anxiety'. Having anxieties over health often accompanies conditions like Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and OCD.

It's a major plus that your panic attacks have become far less intense! I haven't personally experienced the physical symptoms you've described, but I know that those are not uncommon symptoms of anxiety. Write down your symptoms over the past week since your medication change, so you have a record. You can then refer to this when you next talk to your doctor.

It would be great to hear back from you 🙂

Best wishes,

Zeal

Thankyou for your reply Zeal,

i will have a read of that website, I have an appointment with my doctor in a week ( 2 weeks since starting the new medication) I know they can take 2-4 weeks to start working properly so I am just trying to keep my thoughts positive!

Hi Stephanie

Sucks you are going through this but hopefully will be worth it , if the new medication turns out to be the answer for you. Do you have to work while you are adjusting to your new medication? When I first went on anti depressants for my anxiety I hardly moved off the lounge for a week , I just felt so weird and didn't drive for about 3 days . Allow yourself to only the necessities , be kind to yourself and know that you'll come good. My anxiety is usually worse in the morning and one of my most annoying symptoms are fuzzy eyes , I sometimes feel like they might look swollen to people. I felt anxious this morning and did feel better just by reading some posts where I found other people who have the same symptoms as me . If Im having trouble functioning I try to tell myself " You are doing all you have to do right now" and then try ( try I say) to only focus on what Im doing knowing Im not failing in the moment and that later I will be able to do more. Hope you feel better soon . I wish no one had anxiety because I really do not like it!

Hi Stephanie,

you are not alone in the way you feel! I am realy struggling atm with negetive self talk and just got back onto anti anxiety meds. And you are s right it is so hard to keep doing things with these thoughts. All I can say is Be kind to urself and try to be as strong as you can, break things down into bite size chunks.

I hope that soon you start feeling a bit better 🙂
