Not sure if I'm posting in the right place

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I have been diagnosed with generalised anxiety, social anxiety, and depression. Typing out these words make my blood boil. I've recently had my depression/anxiety symptoms flare up and I'm trying to get help. I've already done a ton of research on the internet but I feel like I have a long way to go. I've tried talking to strangers online. I've contacted BeyondBlue and I've made an appointment to see a GP.

Does anyone else feel exhausted by dealing with their mental health issues? It's like looking after a sick person on top of everything else that you have to do, only that sick person is yourself.

Hey JemJo 🙂
Just to put your mind at ease, you totally have posted in the right place! You got it, this is a forum for anxiety sufferers.

how do you feel about getting that diagnoses? it sounds like u've had so much to process and are putting in effort to understand and make sense of it. it is so overwhelming and I really feel for u. The mental health system is so frustrating.

I love that you are reading and doing your own research. Sometimes people go to a GP or therapist hoping that they'll knw exactly what to do - but it's so good to be informed. Then we can even challenge or suggest things to the GP and be an active participant in our recovery. Sometimes we are the best experts in our body and mind and can see things they can't.

How have yu been feeling since receiving the diagnosis? Wishing you a warm welcome to the forums!

Hi JemJo,

I'm fairly new to BB forum as well.

Yes, I feel the same, I'm definitely exhausted with dealing with my own mental health issues. I just want to wake up tomorrow perfectly healthy. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen, not overnight anyway.

Doing your own research will help. It's great that you are being proactive. I found talking about issues with a psychologist also valuable. For me seeing the GP and admitting I needed help was embarrassing. The only thing the GP was helpful for was the mental health plan. But the psychologist seems to get where I'm coming from. I hope you will find the right path for you.

Sending kind thoughts

Billy
