Hi everyone. I just signed up and wanted to say hi to all.
I started med treatment from my doc last week for severe anxiety and today was diagnosed with agoraphobia.
I'm a middle aged guy with no friends or family so it's great to have somewhere to come and compare notes.
You all seem very nice and supportive of each other. That makes me feel better already and think I will like it here.
That's my first post, so look after yourselves and I'm looking forward to making a friend or two.

HI Girl.
Great to hear from you.
It's so good to hear that you got the jackpot finally. Things sound like they are going a bit better today. Hopeful and excited is definitely worth bottling and I hope the feeling stays with you.
Maybe you could let me know the 'hopeful & excited' recipe, and I will make a big batch for anyone else on here that wants some too...
Don't worry about me. I feel better already knowing that someone on BB is having a good day.

Hi Aggy,
I am glad I could help someone. I don't know how to make this recipe, all I know is there was alot of pain, suffering, grief, blood and tears with a generous pinch of luck and good Emergency Department staff.
I hope this lasts until tomorrow. I have to talk with the doctors here then, and see when I am going to be set free. Anxiety is already turning up the dial.

Hi Girl.
Hope everything is still going well for you.
It's great to hear that you may be set free soon. I am trying to deal with a few problems right now and things could be better. But, you never know what tomorrow will bring so I hope things pick up soon.
Always good to hear from you and so glad things seem to be getting a bit better.

Hi Aggy,
I know things haven't been going well for you, as you detailed on my thread. I really hope things get better for you soon, what we have both been through recently no one should have to go through and it is a testament that we are both still here.
Thinking of you.

Hi Girl.
Great to hear from you and hope you are doing well.
It seems we go through a lot of the same stuff at the same time and I am glad you made it through recent events. I can read between the lines and know what you mean by a testament that we are both still here.
I know the dreadful things I have experienced in the last week and am sorry you have been there too. If I could do more to help I would but just want you to know Its not only me but plenty of others here want you to do well.
Thanks for posting and I hope to here again from you anytime you feel like chatting or telling me how you are.
Your friend.

Hi Aggy - I was diagnosed with anxiety & agorapobia in my late teens or early 20's? not quite sure when agoraphobia was brought up by my doctor but ever since I was a kid I've wanted to be at home because I was anxious at school etc. I also have no friends, it pretty much goes hand in hand with agoraphobia, I mean if we aren't going out how are we suppose to meet people to make friends? so you are like damned if you do & damned if you don't. ie: feel anxious going out but if you don't go out, how do you make friends?
I'm in my late 30's and still don't have any "friends" (do 4 cats count?), I'm quite a friendly person when I am out I just prefer to be at home, esp. now that I have pts 😕 I'm new to the board, just wanted you to know that you are not alone. I see you have a Telecaster as your avatar, my fav. guitarist is Joe Satriani (Satch) he plays Ibanez as you probably know, my 3 fav. guitarists all play Ibanez >=:)
I think James Burton (ELVIS's lead guitarist) played a Fender Telecaster?
God Bless >=:) BB

Hi all does this happen to you?
I keep falling over and my balance is becoming worse. I'm sure its the meds but don't know if this is normal. I seem to lose my balance and down I go.
Does this happen to anybody else? Should I worry about this or is it normal?
I can stop it from happening cause I go to move and down I go. Like a sack of spuds. I cant keep my balance and need to hang onto things when moving about. It does not happen all the time but when on the diazepam it is worse.
Maybe I need to tell my GP about it do you think?
I am tired and its nearly 5 am and my anxiety is keeping me from getting to sleep, which is not helping, but I have started having balance control problems recently. Another thing to worry about but does this happen to anyone else?
Love to hear your input.

Hi Big Bunny.
I am so grateful you posted in this thread welcome to BB and hope you are doing well. I see we have some stuff in common and it's great you chose to share your ordeal with me.
I am completely alone and battling to get through and as you would know some days are tougher than others.
Its great you recognise the Fender telecaster avatar. That pic is actually of 'micawber'. It is Keith Richards (rolling stones) 1953 telecaster. Mine looks the same but is a 1952. It is my favourite guitar for that unique country twang, but my Fender Stratocaster is my everyday workhorse. For rock I play my Gibson Les Paul with distortion.
Yes James Burton did play the telecaster but an updated version I believe. Mine is completely stock 1952 with a neck like butter and smooth low action. She is an awesome guitar that I could never part with. She is my baby and I call her Cleo. Short for Cleopatra.
My idol is Mark Knopfler as I can relate to his style but have many favourite players. David Gilmour of pink Floyd is high on my list of best players as well as many others.
I could go on for hours about guitars and players but that's not what this thread is about.
It's great that you posted in this thread and I cant thank you enough for you post. its great to have a friend to share common problems with and if you ever need a chat or someone to just listen, I will be here.
I make friends on the internet mostly because of social phobias and now you are another friend I've found without leaving home.
Great to hear from you and feel free to post your feelings anytime. I'm happy to hear whatever you are going through and hope I can help if needed.

Hi Bunny,
Welcome to BB forums.
Most importantly I wanted to say that you have 4 cats and that makes you an awesome person. I have 3 - two of my own and one of my mums, but also feed 4 other stray cats that visit. Both my moum and I are certified crazy cat ladies.
Do they count as friends? Yes. My cats are my only friends who have stuck with me through this and at times, my only reason for living.
How do you make friends? My anwser would bethe same as Aggy's. I generally make them online. Even if they never become friends and we don't catch up, its enough social interaction to validate me. I have never needed alot of friends, just two good ones. They have changed over the years and this past four months I have been without them, so it can make things really tough.
If they can't understand or support you through your illness though, I have found them not worthy of the title of friend.

Hi Aggy,
I have had balance problems before and it was a medication I was on. Not for a mental illness but a physical one, so probably not the same as yours. There can be other organic reasons for it, but I would go see your GP. If they tell you to stop the meds and it gets better, it's the meds. Check with your GP first though, no panic.
I am glad to see you still here. I hope to see you still here.
