Hello B27 and Welcome!
Good on you for having the courage to post....the forums are a safe and non judgemental place for you..and me!
I understand how you feel as I used to have high level anxiety and its not a good place to be in B27...You have been proactive by seeing your doctor and getting a script to help your health and well being..I know there can be some people that mention 'weight gain'....This isnt accurate or helpful
Whether its an anxiety or physical health problem, sometimes we need the help of medication as your doctor suggested to help us recover. I have been on similar medication and never gained any weight
As per your post above....the anxiety seems intense...If your anxiety interferes with your day to day ability to function the meds can provide us with a solid platform on which we can find some peace of mind (and sleep) combined with ongoing doctors advice
any questions are always welcome B27 🙂
my kind thoughts....Paul

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply it is nice to know im not alone, its been a hard few months since turning 25 my anxiety has started spiraling out of control i know the medication i have is aimed at helping me sleep but my fear now is that i waited to long that i need something just to help me get through the day, i have had to walk away from my son because i couldnt say goodnight to him because i started having a panic attack it was a new low i try and breath through them but it doesnt seem to help much anymore, even my dr said the stuff she gave me will cause weight gain. So i know i need to see her about other options. One that will alow me to get through my job and through saying goodnight to my child and everyother thing i do in a day. And its hard with covid 19 because i cant physically see my dr its over the phone and then i stress about how do i pay and how to i get the rebate it all just continually spirals out of control...
Argg
I need a break i dont stop its either work or child or study im tired all the time.
Sorry for the rant
I have no friends that really understand.

Hi B27,
just wanted to say that if you feel it is the medication causing the weight gain, or even just stimulating your appetite & making you over eat, then it’s ok to ask the doctor if you can try a different medication.
i was put on a certain medication and after about 18mths I had gained over 24kg. Once I realised it was the medication causing the never ending hunger & over eating, my doctor switched my medication. And guess what. While I may not sleep as well at night, I’ve managed to lose just about all that weight I had gained. Simply because my appetite has now gone back to its normal range & im eating far less than what I was a year ago. I haven’t even been exercising, it was literally me just eating less as I no longer had this appetite stimulate going into my body every day.
so it might be worth asking your doctor about this when you see them next. mention your concerns & ask if their is an alternative you could try.
Best of luck
