How anxiety and depression changes you

I’m struggling a lot to find myself these days really struggling, it’s like the person I was is gone ,left is this the anger the , anxiety which triggers and when it does it’s hard to deal , I felt a few months ago maybe less I was getting better id turned a corner but no these past few months feels like an eternity of just darkness black and anger and just yeah feel like I’m not me . I don’t know if that person I was even exists anymore I’m a shell of myself.

I'm so sorry, it must be very hard for you. 

There was a similar period in my life so I think I can understand you.

 

If you feel comfortable, please share your story about what you have experienced, and the triggers you think might be. We're ready to listen and help.

 

What I want to share is, our way of recovery is never linear, there're always ups and downs which could kill your will of making more efforts. Don't lose hope, don't give up, and don't fight alone. It's your mental illness, just like other physical illness, you need to equip yourself with mental health knowledge, you need to talk to your family or best friends, you need to seek professional support from a doctor or a psychologist and stick on the plan.

Anxiety and depression definitely change a person.  For example, a person who has experience depression is much more likely to experience it again.  Please seek professional help as soon as possible - I suspect that the more time you spend dealing with anxiety/depression, the longer and harder it will be to heal.

Hello

I think i understand how you feel.

Anxiety changed who i am, and how i deal with the things that happen in my life.

I have periods like you where i feel i have turned a corner, only to have something happen and i slide backwards again.

What i can tell you is as i learnt to deal with these things, and i worked out what the triggers were,i got some kind of a handle on the anxiety.

Have you spoken to a psychologist? 

They may be able to give you some stratgies on how you can manage the anxiety better and to deal or work through what triggers you.

We all recover differently, and somstimes we have bad days.

I have a psychologist it’s hard like triggers to manage them I’m having bad anxiety past week or more I had work place bullying & assault and dealing with work cover and all the associated things is tough I know I have to go back to work but how can I when they keep lying about things like these bully’s not coming into potentially new work place ( as they cross over all the time  I’ve seen it first hand myself so it’s like why our about it ) it’s bloody hard . I fell over the other day got stitches I was so stressed over what’s happening at work and with work safe I’m sort of fall apart I hide behind stony face but really shell inside.

I am sorry you are feeling this way and I am glad you have reached out for support. Struggling with your mental health is hard, and feeling far away from yourself is normal in this circumstance. I am here to tell you that it can get better, but you need to seek help. Even if you just talk to your family or friends, that can help. But I would recommend seeing your doctor and getting a referral to a mental health professional. This really helped me to get back to my normal self and start enjoying life again.
