Hi there,
first time here. Having a day off work as at the moment it's all too much. I
A teacher so reports and as I have no other teachers who I plan with (only one in my year level) I'm planning all by myself too. I miss my team teaching which I did all the time last year. Only reason I'm not doing it is because there is only one of the year levels I'm teaching this year.
Feeling as though I'm a shit teacher, can't stop the negativity and feeling as though I'm not teaching a as I should. I'm currently on antidepressants and have been for most of my life (I'm 40)
Not wanting sympathy just needing acceptance that this will pass and it will be ok. Any hints to get me through this????

Hi & welcome
i work in OSHC at a school(20 years, 4 different services).
i see how hard it is to teach & work with kids. And teaching is a highly stressful job. Teachers do not get enough credit or support in my opinion.
please don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure you are doing a great job, better than you think 😊
So enjoy your day off today, don't feel guilty! Do something nice for yourself today. Make today YOUR day, doing whatever you need to nurture yourself! YOU ARE WORTH IT!
Kindest Regards
Tbella 🤗

Thanks TBella. Some days it all becomes just too much. Going to see my GP in an hour so hopefully it'll be ok.
I get so annoyed with myself that I feel this way. I'm a grown woman, with qualifications... no financial stresses, just high expectations of myself. In fact some day I'd like to see my self in leadership....that's if I can handle it??????
Sarah, why does it have to be this hard?????????

I hear you Sarah
im dreading going to work myself. I struggle every day but don't know what else I can do for work.
the policies & procedures set by the industry are not partical & make it more stressful than it needs to be.
Be kind to yourself & give yourself permission to be human. You're doing the best you can, that's all that matters. 😊

ok as i not long ago finished school i can see it from both sides of the story
i too think teachers dont get enough credit for what they do, you guys have the students 6 hours a day 5 days a week so you are helping raise these kids a great deal so kudos to both of you for being able to be a teacher.
Livvylou anxiety and depression can affect anyone but you cna get better, it does take time though. hmm maybe you could talk to your a close friend about what your feeling or a psychologist to help you work through your thoughts.
also if your body has become immune to the anti depressents your on you may find they arent working as well for you so maybe ask about seeing a psychiatrist for a review of your medications as well

Hello Livvylou76,
It sounds like you have a huge responsibility planning by yourself especially if this is something you do not usually do. There can be a misconception I think in believing that anxious people like to do things alone.
Hope you find a way to share the load. High functioning anxious people can have a propensity for putting up with too much because they are capable of getting things done.
cheers,
Pixie

Don't demean yourself because as soon as you do then depression floods over you and takes full control, and can I suggest you have your AD's reviewed by your doctor, sometimes we need to change because the affect becomes accustomed to them, so you may need a higher dose or a change of AD's, the more you punish yourself the worse you will feel, take care. Geoff.
