Hey Guys
Been a while since I've had any health anxiety but it has got me again!! Quick story below...
My partner and I broke lease recently on his place then moved into my parents for a few weeks, we found the best house and got approved! So we were really excited to move in. The weekend comes where we move in and turns out its his weekend to have his 2 children. They are the best ever but it was very hard trying to move our house and me keep an eye on them at the same time. Got through it during the day and then then Miss 3 got sick with vomiting all afternoon and night, had a home doctor come out in the mess of the new house and she was ok just had to monitor her. Ended up spending the rest of weekend moving with the kids which was really hard. On the Monday my partner advised that his ex wanted us to have the kids this weekend which i really didn't want to as we have so much to do, he has to work, we have to finish unpacking and setting up the house etc. After a bit of going back and forth he advised the ex he couldnt take care of them.
I then come to work Tuesday and our company has recently sold so we have a new management team who had flown up from Sydney. They advised us of all new processes we have to do which was quite overwhelming.
Anyway, since this week, my health anxiety has been crap. I have been feeling like i couldnt breathe, I had a home doctor come out on Tuesday night and he checked me over and said my chest and lungs were clear but i had a bit of a red throat. I thought that was ok then I went to work on Wednesday and thought I was having an allergic reaction, my sister took me to the doctors downstairs and they put me on a nebuliser and checked me over and said i have 100% oxygen, my chest and lungs are clear and its stress/panic. They did put me on prednisone though due to all the smoke from the bushfires nearby.
Today, i do feel a bit better but I am getting back pain and feels like I"m still short of breath 😞 feels like I can't get that right amount of air! It's really uncomfortable and I just don't know how to go about it. Apparently my lungs are very clear but it doesn't feel it 😞
Sorry about the ramble I just thought I would put in the back story!

Hello
I'm sorry to hear this is happening for you. I used to have health anxiety but don't anymore. I realise how stressful it can be though. Whenever I had it, I would hop into bed and lie really still and hope it would pass. Not very helpful, but I really don't know what works. Anxious brains seem to cling on to things. I wonder if you could try meditation or progressive body relaxation exercises?
Best wishes, Kat

Hey there!
Sorry this is happening to you. Just know you are not alone! I too have health anxiety which has also flared up after a stressful period. It’s almost as if our flight/fight response wants to keep going even after the stressful period has passed!
something someone told me here was that what are the chances that the doctors are wrong? There is probably more chance of something ridiculous like a piano falling from the sky on our head, which really put things to perspective for me.
ever since I’ve taken this approach and got the results back from numerous tests, funnily enough the physical pains I were worried about have disappeared. I believe now that those pains were caused due to muscle tension from constant anxiety!
I also find practising meditation before bed has somewhat started to calm me down.
take it easy and hope this period of anxiety passes quickly for you 🙂

Hi Hazel!
Thanks for your reply. I think it was the fight or flight response that just was lasting way to long this week haha.
I have had the same, i think after yesterday they started to come down as the week is coming to an end and I have gotten most of the stressful things out of the way. I am thinking of going and getting a massage this weekend to help release some of the tension!
What sort of meditation do you do? I find it hard knowing what to do or try haha.
I did have a couple of beers last night which ended up relaxing me a bit lol!

Oh tell me about it! I just came back from the doctors confirming everything is fine and I completely broke down, because I was still doubtful and embarrassed for going so many times and nothing is wrong!
I’ve avtually received a hypnosis tape from my hypnotherapist which relates to fear free and anxiety free focus, it pretty much helps me focus on my breathing and picturing myself being in a relaxing environment. Which helps immensely!!
the smiling mind app is also really good to help train you with meditation
yes a few beers would have definately helped lol!
