I suffer from anxiety and depression after a work incident a few years ago. I thought I overcome it and I was doing well. Now I struggle to leave the house and fidgeting when I have to do shopping. I had a panic attack doing the groceries. I can't explain it but I'm constantly anxious I talk myself out of leaving the house. I don't have anyone to talk to about this who would actually understand, just feeling so lost 😕

Hello Gg12,

A very warm and caring welcome to the forums...

I am sorry that you are feeling so lost....and your struggling with anxiety and depression after a work incident...

A few years ago I used to talk myself out of going outside my home, and stayed away from shopping after I had a panic attack then a breakdown in the shop...I used to have to have someone with me when I shopped...It took a few years for me to go shopping again on my own....I can do that now, but with a list so I’m in and out ASAP...

What turned my anxiety around was having to volunteer a set amount of hours for Centrelink..I was accepted at charity shop and started on 1 day a week, working outback on my own...Now I’m doing 2 days a week, and working one of those days serving in the shop.....I started to learn to trust people....still a little afraid to talk to complete strangers...but I am getting better at it...one step at time..

My first step to my wellness journey started with me reaching out to my Dr. and a mental health care plan...with some professionals to help me....I’m wondering if you have reached out to your Dr at all?....if not is it something that you would consider?....

Do you still work at the place that the incident effected you?...only answer if you feel you want to...no pressure at all here...

Talk here anytime you feel to...We are here to help support you any way we are able to..you are not alone Gg12..

My kindest thoughts dear Gg12, with my care..

Grandy..
