Hi anyone,
i have been living with anxiety for nearly 20 years. Worrying constantly about things that in the scheme of things are not that important. Getting to a stage now where my wording has just made me feel tired inside. I’m completely exhausted and out of energy.
does anyone else feel this way constantly?
or am I alone in this down ward spiral of thought patterns

Josh welcome to the forum. This is a supportive and friendly place.
There are people reading your post who will relate to what you have written. You are not alone.
There are threads here about anxiety that you may like to browse.
I wonder if you have spoken to your doctor about how you feel. It feels so overwhelming but there is support and help available.
I know when I have downward thoughts that make feel constantly exhausted it is difficult to stop the pattern but it can be done.
You have made this first step in reaching out and being honest about your feelings.

Dear Josh37~
I'd like to join Quirky in welcoming you here and start by reassuring you that you are not alone, far from it.
Like you I worry over things that might -and almost never happen, about potential disasters that are in fact minor and not worth mentioning, and the attitudes of people to me and the things I did.
I am am awful lot better now than I was, and this is due to both medical and personal support. Without competent medical treatment I simply could not 'fix' myself and things were going further and further downhill.
Now my life is good and my worries mostly under control. If I'm in doubt I discuss matters wiht my partner or therapist, who give me the sense of perspective I sometimes lack.
May I ask if you have been to see a doctor about your constant anxiety? I suspect from what you say you may not have.
Usually one can start with an extended consultation wiht your GP, saying how you have been feeling and for how long. Take your time and relate the worst bits -that is important to give the doctor an idea of the miserable life you have had to lead for so long.
This may result in treatment, perhaps with a psychologist or psychiatrist, and maybe medications too. Once I had them right my life became unrecognizable.
To give you some background Beyond Blue has some facts here dealing with anxiety, how to recognize it and what to do
https://www.beyondblue.org.au/the-facts/anxiety
In addition there is a thread where people have said what has made things better for them, I get a lot from it
https://www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/anxiety/self-help-tips-for-managing-anxiety
Finally I use a simple free smartphone app that with practice takes my mind out of those continuous loops of worry and leaves me calmer and able to think of other things. It is called Smiling Mind and very flexible, meeting most peoples needs.
As I have the attention span of a gnat it reminds me often enough to concentrate for it to work. There are other programs in it for those with better concentration.

May I ask if there is someone in your life to support you? Dealing with all this in isolation is extra hard

Hi Josh37,
I once had severe anxiety... OCD ... I have now recovered from this.... my recovery started from seeing my gp through to a clinical psychologist and psychiatrist this then led me to a clinic that specialised in OCD...
You are not alone many people have this condition...
make an appointment with your gp ... maybe when you book in ask for a double appointment so you can do a mental health plan with your gp... this will then give you 10 free appointments with a phycologist....
Please seek help from a professional... don’t try to deal with it on your own...
you can then get on the road to recovery and you CAN recover..
😊

Hi Josh,
I started getting anxiety (panic attack) 1 week ago and it is melting my brain. I feel for you, 20 years seems rough.
I would recommend going to the doctor ASAP as the others have posted. I did a few days ago and it helped.

I do, too well maybe?!... and even with professional help and meds plus daily pushing on, it all only just takes the edge off... but still constantly anxious over nothing and everything all at the same time. Its frustrating most definitely. I have been this way since birth my mother says. Beginning to find "my normal"... and sleep is when I get a reprieve... Have you found anything yourself that help ease the anxieties? Or any suggestions you may have found helpful? I too speak and confuse everyone with my words, it is exhausting and I give up mostly, became agrophobic and dealing with other issues also... but in saying this, have had many years of help, meds and hospital visits and still constantly fighting to be my kinda normal. I feel in then end, its just who I am, I learn day to day how to cope best for me and those around me who truly care accept me for me and thats 'my normal', well at time i am at my wits end but pick myself up (sometime with assisted help) and fight another day (ps some days i give up and stay in bed and feel sorry for myself and that is okay too) the aim is to never give up. Pls keep fighting that tiresome fight. Because YOU MATTER! Smile! You are awesome for expressing your troubles. Feel free to reach out anytime. I am a good listener and try my best to assist where I possibly can, even if my words are jumbled (i understand me, sometimes lol)
You are DEFINITELY NOT ALONE!! x
