Anxiety and Depression: Job

The thought of spending life at work makes me depressed to the point that I just want to stay in bed all day. I feel like there are so many things to be happy about in my life yet I'm so down all the time and although I love my job, I wish I felt happier.
I feel like everyone can see I'm having problems with my mental health, but very few people ask about it. I'm not the type of person to talk openly about emotions, but my face shows it plain as day. I feel like although I can do my job to a high calibre and I have a lot to offer, I don't feel as appreciated as I should. I put in all this work, even on the weekend and I feel like this.
I don't know what I should do and even though I've been taking time off work, I feel like I need more, but I've already taken so much off. More to this, a lot is due and they need me to help specifically.
I don't know what to do and I'm crying at random times of the day. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Poincare 1136,
Welcome to the forums, I'm so glad you came here to share what's on your mind. When there are plenty of things to be happy about, and we still feel bad, then it might be time to think about what we can do for our mental health. Is there anything specific that's bothering you? It sounds like you take pride in your work and are good at it, but maybe like it takes a bit of an outsized role in your life, even your weekends?
If you don't mind my asking, do you feel like you have enough time for your family, friends, and other interests? In addition to talking things through on here, with a loved one, or a medical professional, reorganizing the basics (work-life balance, etc). can help a lot. Would love to hear more about what's going on with you if you care to share!
Warmly,
Gems

Hey Poincare!
What a courageous thing to share. Often our society places so much value on production but not personal fulfillment.
I would encourage you to look at the layers of your worklife on a deeper level.
Is the core issue a workplace that leaves you feeling unfulfilled? Does this mean keeping an eye out for new job opportunities? Or, is the issue your support system? Is it worth opening the dialogue with a few more people, asking them questions about their work-life to invite yourself into a space where you may be comfortable talking about yours?
Your experience of feeling overwhelmed with due dates and lack lustre days off are completely valid. I'm sure it's frustrating. But let me assure you that this first step into seeking advice is one that shows your true character- Someone who is willing to gain perspective and seek something greater. And that, at least by me, is something I can really appreciate about you.
Best,
Wishes

Hello Poincare1136,
Sorry you are feeling this way...
What makes you think that you will spend your life at work?
What do you have outside of work?
Life changes.... have you tried to change your thought patterns?
Try to tell yourself positive things every day, “ choose” to be happy I believe happiness is a choice we already have it inside our selves we just need to choose to be happy... try to build the habits of being happy seeing possibilities and looking for hope...
You could speak to your gp about the way you are feeling if you want to or I’m here if you want to chat about your mental health.... I know it’s not easy feeling down 😊
