Hi all,
I don't really know what going on. I just started my last year of high school about a month ago and I have never struggled more in my whole life.
Everything is just a chore, I can't concentrate on school work without my mind wandering to something unproductive. My friendships are getting dull and distant because I have no desire to keep them.
Im just trying to work toward my academic goal, but at this point I'm not going to pass anything because I can't keep my head still for three seconds.
My sleep has been atrocious, I got sleep paralysis (I think) for the first time the other night and thought I was going to die, I have no appetite anymore, I have no energy to talk to people or do my schoolwork.
I'm aware I sound like I'm complaining and dramatising it (and that's not what I wanted to be communicated) but I really don't know how to cope with it anymore.
If anyone has any tips they would be much appreciated, I have had a couple issues with mental health last year, so Im just trying to distinguish whether this is a 'getting back into school' slump or if old illnesses are creeping their way back in.
Thanks 🙂

Hey Mads,
Not an expert or professional by any means, but I also had some similar feelings when I was completing Year 12, a few years back, as well as some old illnesses during Year 11. I found it was really helpful to seek support from the school, and to take some time to myself and find something to focus on beyond academic achievement. Of course that's still the main objective in a lot of ways, but it was really important for me, to find something that was still enjoyable and to focus on that, at least for a little bit.
Don't feel like you're complaining or dramatising these issues - you're not, at all. These are real, poignant, issues that are important to recognise and express, and you're doing amazing with how you've coped so far.
Stay strong!!

Mads
thanks for your post . Year 12 is a very difficult and stressful year foe most students and I I I I am sure if your friends were honest with you they would be having troubles too.
Kodd has give good a ideaabout see,ing support at school. Most schools have a year12 coordinator and man y schools run special days for year 12 to help to them cope,
You are not at all complaining or dramatising but expressing how you feel with honesty and clarity.
Kodd welcome to the forum and thanks for using your first post to help someone else. This is what the forum is about giving and receiving support.
Mads Let us know how you are going If you would like to.
