Hi there,

i am new here an dhave religiously been reading these forums for a while now, but most of the stuff is quite old so I thought I might reach out and see if there is any new current cases ect and some of those older posters outcomes.

i am on income Protection currently and have put in a TPD claim and I am very stressed about it all, I am thinking I have people following me all the time and they always try to trick me up with what I say, they have all my medicine info and have also 5 different doctors reports and I just don’t know where it is all at, I am scared to call them as it makes me really anxious as the write down everything I say I can here my case manager typing flat out every word I speak.

if I don’t get this tpd I will have to sell my house. After reading all the info about IME that freaks me out too because they will just try and discredit me and trick me, the thought of that process is already maxing me anxious and they haven’t even asked me or see an IME yet

Hi Display name is required and welcome to Beyond Blue

It's good to hear you have been reading our threads and posts, and are posting now. Sorry to hear that you are claiming for TPD. It must mean things are not so good for you.

Waiting for the results of anything, whether it's exams, medical tests - is anxiety provoking. The results are so intricately linked to who we are and the outcome is often out of our control. So it's no wonder we worry. Often for no good reason too. Until the results are in you might find it's a matter of managing the symptoms of anxiety.

Have you browsed or searched the threads for posts like Self Help Tips for Managing Anxiety? These types of tips are ongoing and don't get outdated.

Hope all goes well with your claim. Let us know if you feel up to it.

Kind regards

Hi Display name is required 🙂

I have only just read a few forum discussions tonight as one come up in a google search feed.

You haven't gone into too much detail about what has happened for you to be on income protection, whether physical or psychological injury.

I have had 2 sessions with the same IME psychiatrist through my workcover agent and all I can say is that he listened to what I had to say and showed a lot of empathy towards me. The 1st session report granted me approval for a workcover claim. The 2nd (almost 6 monthly check up) session supported my psychiatrists view that I was still not well enough to return to work for at least another few months.

I have just contacted my superannuation company today to discuss lodging a claim for TPD however I am under workcover payments not income protection. My query is the other way, can I claim income protection once workcover ceases, if I need it, if a TPD claim is approved.

Over 25 years ago I was injured in a car accident and after extensive time off work and paying for rehab (because the first $$$? weren't covered by TAC) I finally lodged a claim as I realised I had paid out much more than there excess amount. I was outside of their timeframe for lodging and had to engage a solicitor and take it through court. I did discover during that time that I was followed by investigators. They followed me to work on a number of occasions, seeing that my partner had to drive me and drop me off and a few other occasions. Since I had, and still have, a lower back injury they didn't get any evidence of my trying to rort the system.

As long as you have a valid claim you shouldn't be concerned about what the investigation will produce. Just be honest and upfront with what's going on with you. Contact the insurer and chase them for an update, otherwise they will just drag their heels. If your claim is rejected, appeal. If an appeal doesn't work, or it gets too stressful seek a "No win, no fee" solicitor to represent you.

Good luck. I hope things are going better for you since your post was a month ago.

Hi,
Just wanted to see what the outcome was? I've just lodged mine and am on income protection payments (on and off over 2 years). Would love to know how you went.
