Suddenly feel big waves of depression and sadness

I used to be really happy, basically all the time. But now, every few nights and sometimes just randomly, i feel really awful. i almost feel numb basically. I get really sad and feel really hopeless and i basically always burst into tears and i feel like it will never end. But then when i go to school and am distracted by the people around me, i feel fine again. Any suggestions on what i can do to help?

Dear M1iiy~

Welcome here, I'm answering your other post about Jade here too, as it all seems to be a part of your life.

Having a 'pretend' character in your mind is not that unusual, people make up situations quite often, and it is not a far step from that to imagining a permanent 'situation', and a permanent person in it.

Although that person many have problems - quite deep ones, you are basically in control and I suspect you manage to steer 'Jade' though these troubles. You may in fact give Jade some of the hassles you have, again you are in control, it is your fantasy.

The fact you can feel so down is a real problem, it makes you life so miserable, and even though you might get some relief at school the fact you are crying, feeling sad and hopeless is no way to be. Life needs to be OK, something you can mostly enjoy.

At 13 trying to sort it all out for yourself is not really practical. Can I ask how you get on with your parents and any brothers or sisters you may have? Can you for example tell your mum abut Jade and about feeling so down and have her to try to look after you and care?

One thing you can do is ring the Kids Help Line (1800 55 1800) -they also have web-chat and email. They are friendly and understanding, they often have situations like yours. Just being able to speak with someone like that can make matters a lot easier.

Please come back and talk some more, you are not alone and we do understand.
