Hi, I’m new to this,
im a 44 year old male, I have 3 kids, one granddaughter and 3 step kids.
I’ve been in therapy for years, mostly not helping.
I have epilepsy, ptsd from childhood sexual abuse.
mum glad I found this forum! I need a bit of help. Have been very suicidal in the past. It may help to talk on here as it’s anonymous. Thanks.

Hi JImmy-79,
First of all: Welcome to the Forums! It certainly is an anonymous space and one that we hope can be a welcoming and supportive space for you. We’re so sorry to hear what you have been through. It sounds like you’re dealing with a lot, and we can imagine how hard that would be to manage.
We are sure that other members here will see your post and chime in with their own support, but in the meantime - You can talk to Blue Knot about this on 1300 657 380, every day between 9am-5pm (AEST). Their counsellors work with people who have experienced complex trauma. They also have some resources on their website which could be useful to visit, particularly the pages on Survivors Self Care.
You can also talk to the lovely Beyond Blue counsellors about this at any time on 1300 22 4636, or via our webchat.
Thank you again for your courage and strength in sharing your story.
Kind regards,
Sophie M

Hello Dear Jimmy,
A very warm and caring welcome to our forum’s…
You have come to a beautiful place to connect with other members, I have also PTSD, 3 children, grandchildren and a great grandchild….I don’t see my children and their families much at all….I hope it different for you and you see your family regularly….
I think that PTSD, is very hard to get through, especially when triggered into a deep sudden depression, I had a few counsellors over the years, the one that helped me the most was victims counselling, set up by my Dr….All in all though, I think that only suffers of ptsd need to find a way to help ground themselves when triggered….I still at times get suicidal ideation…when it pops into my thoughts, I do anything I can to redirect those unhealthy thoughts into something else that I like….which is mainly music, watching candles or sitting outside all done mindfully while using all my 5 senses to bring me into the present, the here and now…
Do you have any coping strategies in place, that helps you in your down times?..
Sitting quietly with you Dear Jimmy…Did something happen recently that may have caused you to feel the way you do? No pressure to answer, only if you want to..
Kind thoughts given with my care..
Grandy.
