Hi doinit4kidz,
Counselling Online (https://www.counsellingonline.org.au/) is an alcohol & drug Turning Point service and has some great resources. I would encourage you to have a look when you get the chance.
Take care.

Hi doinit4kidz
Welcome to the bb forum.
I really applaud your efforts to want to become the best parent you can be. Same goes for your partner. There are, no doubt, brighter days ahead.
I’ve been a member of the forum for a few years now and can assure you that you’ve arrived at a place of non-judgemental support. There will be others here who will be able to relate to relevant shared issues, concerns and struggles. You just have to find them.
The people popping in to say g’day here might not necessarily be best placed to comment (like me). Have a read of existing threads and join a conversation of interest or start a new thread with a specific header (as in comparison to your general introduction).
I wish you well on your journey and look forward to seeing you around.
Kind thoughts to you

Thanks guys I figure we have nothing to lose and much to gain so here we are.
I'm high functioning autistic with some social anxiety who 17yrs clean from street opiates and pills married to a recovering addict also who suffers PTS and extremely bad anxiety in general. He has relapsed of late and the effects on the whole family is clear to see.
My mum has been in and out of mental health units most of her life and was often her career. She is also an addict as is my husband mother
Glad to have some added support thank you so much very much

Hello Doinit4kidz, your post is a rather powerful comment as I see it, thanks for providing your thread and welcome to the site.
For you to be 17 years clean is certainly an amazing accomplishment to achieve, however, even by doing so doesn't stop the trials and tribulations of what does happen to those you care for, so to be able to handle this is completely different to when you were addicted yourself, although all the circumstances have definitely changed, never the less is great for you to have joined the forums.
People recovering or at least trying to, from addiction can often have one or more relapse, it's not necessarily written down as part of the course, it just seems to happen and there are definitely no rules telling you when it could happen, but possible reasons why.
When someone suffers from anxiety, it's likely for them to struggle with addiction and try and find out a way to relieve themselves of the symptoms it causes and we hope your thread can continue as there would be much more that needs to be said.
Please get back to us when you can.
Best wishes.
Geoff.
