Dear Scooter,
Welcome to beyond Blue and well done for reaching out.
while I understand that you may not be ready to discuss the issues here on BB yet, have you perhaps thought about talking to your doctor to get a mental health plan? And/or maybe a counselor?
Your doctor should hopefully be able to recommend a few different options for you to consider. And sometimes talking to a counselor can help to sort your thoughts about a bit more, and help keep those nasty thoughts at bay too. I personally have found counselling to be very helpful over the years, when I've been struggling with things.
In the meantime, please know that you can come back here as much as you like, and know too that we are here to support you as much, and as best as we can.
You're not alone in this. We are here for you.
Take care. I'll be thinking of you. xo

Thank you soberlicious96
talking to a doctor about things is going to be a big step for me to take. I have never experienced anything like this before.
I think I have found a doctor to go to - (typical male in 40’s without a regular GP), so will be making an appointment this week
I did use the online chat on this website yesterday and that did help me. The more I am on here, the more I will be able to open up about things
being able to find an outlet like this, for me, to express my thoughts / issues is a small win for me.

Hi Scooter,
Every small step forward is a positive move, even if it's only a tiny one. It's like the saying "How do you eat an elephant? Only one mouthful at a time."
It's great that you are taking those small steps.
Perhaps you could break down the doctor's appointment thing into smaller steps also? Like for example:
Step 1) Look online for local doctor's surgeries/offices, and where they are.
Step 2) Look to see if they have a website and a list of doctors
Step 3) Write down the phone number of the one that appeals to you the most
Step 4) Have some pre-prepared answers for any questions they may ask when you first ring up. Some things might seem super easy, like your name and address, but it's amazing how many people don't really know their own phone number, or their emergency contact person's number - mainly because it's all 'speed dial' these days - so make sure you have those kinds of things written down in front of you, if need be.
At this point, you also find this page a handy reference: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/personal-best/pillar/supporting-yourself/finding-a-gp-that-can-help-with-mental-health-issues
Step 4) Make the phone call to make the appointment ........ etc
Anyway, you get the gist, yeah? Let me know how you go, if you like. Still be here. Still be thinking of you. Take care. You got this! xo
