Unsure of In-Patient program.

Hi all,
My psychiatrist has recently recommended I go to the In-Patient program at Greenslopes.
He has said it is anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks, and is a current serving and veterans facility only. (I think it is called the Keith Payne Unit, but the site only discusses the out patient programs)
I can find a short blurb on it online but I have been unable to find any real info on the program. I'm unsure whether it is a good idea. I'm concerned about the impact on my family and work being away potentially for over a month.I'm trying to approach this like any other decision and do research, but in this case the anxiety of the unknown is leading my to shy away from it.
Has anyone had any experience with the Greenslopes facility, or with In-patient programs?

Hi Dan,
Welcome to the community here. I'd just like to suggest that if the psychiatrist has recommended this for you, than I presume they know why and they must think it will benefit you.
Maybe you could consider the advantages of being in a place where you can receive assistance verses trying to deal with your mental health yourself.
The programs that are run in the facility may be different for each person depending on the issues and individual circumstances.
If possible, make arrangements with your family as to how they will cope and manage while you are receiving the help, assistance and care that you require to help you restore your mental health and well being.
Wishing you well, cheers from Dools
