Hi everyone,
I had my first visit to my new psychologist yesterday, she is lovely and the appointment went well. I am not able to get back in to see her now until 6th May so I asked her whether she had any suggestions about anything I could look at online, by way of homework. She suggested "ecouch" or "moodgym", which are free and have modules that can be worked through in a self-paced manner. She said they are both excellent but of the two, "ecouch" has "softer sides" 🙂
I am just wanting to find out if anyone else here has participated in either of these online and if so, what your thoughts are?
Thank you,
Red

Hi Red
Welcome to the BB Forums
Thankyou for posting. Paul here...
Are these self help modules for anxiety and/or depression? I might look them up and have a stickybeak..
There most likely are people on here that have used them....keep checking your thread.
Well done having your first visit to your psychologist! A huge step towards recovery
Kind Thoughts

I have now had a good look over ecouch, still working my way through some of the links and references.
From the website, by way of explanation:-
"The original version of e-couch was co-funded by Australia's beyondblue: the national depression initiative and the National Institute for Mental Health Research at the Australian National University.e-couch has continued to be expanded and delivered by the National Institute for Mental Health Research with funding from the Australian Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing, as part of its 'Funding for Telephone Counselling, Self Help and Web-based Support Programmes' measure.
e-couch provides information about emotional problems – what causes them, how to prevent them and how to treat them. It includes exercises to help you understand yourself and others better. Even better, it provides you with a set of strategies that might help you to improve your life."
My first impressions are that it is good but nothing can compare to speaking to a real human, face to face. I am missing the warmth of that sort of interaction, I think. I will keep at it though but I reckon the trick is to take it slowly, not too much at once.
I will have a look at moodgym as well, perhaps not tonight though 🙂
