Do therapists that DON'T follow duty of care exist?

Shock

I am getting really desperate. I really need to talk to someone and probably soon. However, I just cant talk to anyone who has to abide by 'duty of care' laws. Every time they do they though me in the pysch ward. I want to talk and resolve my issues, not be treated like human garbage.

Does anyone know of anywhere where they dont do this?

(I dont mean to sound rude but please no one say "you just have to keep trying therapists untill you connect with one". That just doesnt work for me. They are still bound by duty of care and still lie).

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Shock, I read your post on another thread about your experience in hospital and I was appalled. I was meaning to ask you, did you ever put in a complaint when you got out?

Anyway more to the point of your question here, no one deserves to be treated like human garbage. It doesnt sound like youve had very good experiences with therapists so I won't say try another one. Can you talk here about what is troubling you, why are you feeeling desperate?

Hi Shock,

Thank you for the post. I doubt that there are therapists who don't consider duty of care; they are professionally bound to do this (I am sure that I am telling you what you already know). I have been down a similar path with several hospital admissions and understand the hesitation with being totally open and honest. However, for your safety, I would still recommend being open about your experience when talking to someone, you are that important.

Wishing you well,

Brett.

hey shock

sorry to hear your having such a hard time how have you been travelling the last couple of days? have you tried maybe headspace or like jess suggested talking on BB  sadly doctors are bound to duty of care but you have the say in the end weather to go into hospital unless you're put on forms (which is a horrible experience) stay with the same psych that your seeing now and explain the fact that hospital doesn't help your situation and maybe have a list with you of things you need to talk through or if you know exactly what it is you want to say then just go for it if you have a good relationship with your psychologist you'll be able to come to a mutual agreement.

look after yourself.
