Self compassion

Gettingbetter23

Hi All, I'm brand new and this is my first post!

I'm working on getting out of the hole but sometimes I slip back in and feel I'm back at square one.

Being compassionate towards others is easy, but I'm learning that I need to have compassion for myself.

For a long time I hated myself. But that doesn't get me anywhere.

Hoping things will get better with time - step by step.

Thanks for listening.

Best of luck, Gettingbetter.
Step by step, you'll get there! And you're right, self-hatred doesn't get anyone anywhere ...except in a rut. I know on the days where I'm being kind to myself, and loving and accepting who I am, I feel on top of the world.
Wishing you well,
Evan.

Hello Gettingbetter23

Welcome to the forums and thankyou for posting too!

What an inspirational post...good on you. I have a thread called 'Do You Love Yourself' You thoughts are Welcome' under staying well. I cant love myself as I dont like the way my depression makes me think. I have slowly been learning to be 'gentle' with myself though (same as yourself)

There are many super kind people on the forums that can be here for you GB.

I hope you can stick around....you have a great attitude 🙂

My kindest thoughts

Paul

Hi there Gettingbetter23!

Best wishes for your journey ahead and your time here on the BB forums!

I think that having compassion and kindness towards ourselves is something we all need to learn and be reminded of from time to time

Great post!
