My Predicament

-Qball-
Community Member
I've struggled with depression near 20yr (since late teens). Have major depression and family history of BPD. I am totally exhausted keeping up the effort. I used to have a high paying job (gone), very few prospects now. Finances are shattered, have poured tons into psychiatry, now can't afford further consultation. Empty inside, feel very little toward others, just numb and dull on inside, it's like the light has been turned off. The meds don't work, I used to drink to self med until crashing early in the year - haven't touched that stuff for 10months. Every day I feel lower and use my tools to realize what I have, I will keep persisting but to what end. I guess I just wanted to put something down as I don't sleep well, sit here reading forums and know that there's many that don't post... best of luck all of you with the battle!

Hi qball

We have thousands of threads here. Some will help.

Great you dont touch the bottle now.

In this age of high debt, two incomes, one loses a job, lose house, etc, life is a fine tuned instrument. East for it to break.

Psychs are great. I guess I'm a believer in several treatments including peer group forums like this.

Here are some threads you might benefit from. You might just want to read the first post. You can leave comments thete or hete.

hello Qball, it takes great courage to post a comment on this site, especially when it's your first comment so well done.
I'm pleased that you don't drink alcohol anymore, it only confuses where you are trying to head, and I say this because I used for a few years.
Yes it's easy to pour thousands into counselling but that's only helpful if you are getting something out of it, unfortunately that doesn't seem to be happening.
Now you have to ask your psychiatrist if they will bulk bill you, even if the session is 15 mins shorter, if not then click onto 'Get Support' and scroll down until you see 'Find a professional', these doctors etc are aligned with BB and specialise with mental illness, if you need to fins another psych then ring around to see which one bulk bill, then all your files can be tranferred over to them, but wait until you believe that that this one will help you before the file are transferred over. Geoff.
