Most people have some sort of hobby. The enjoyment and satisfaction of a hobby is a great way to be at peace.
Who remembers the old K-Tel records of the 60s and 70s? Who's still got them? Yep,I kept mine. Mind you I started collecting the 70s compilation hits albums like Whopper,Ripper,Ripper 76,Explosive Hits 75,Bobby Dazzler,Unreal, etc. Got a great collection too.Even bought the 45s and those box sets of albums like Readers Digest, etc.
As for books I like collecting books. Usually on my favourate cars. I have a lot of self help books. I like things from the past like old toys just like the ones I had as a child. Nothing like brightening your day by looking at old toys taking your back to your childhood.
Over to you: What do you collect/whats your hobbies?

I love collecting things! 😄
I have a small collection of fossils and animal skulls, I find them really fascinating, though a lot of people find them creepy or gross!
I also collect teddy bears, pins, coins, anime and gaming figurines, movie merchandise, and schleich animal figures. Basically I love dust collectors, anything I can display in my cabinets or around my home. I love ornaments and various antique items such as old compasses and telescopes. I also love art and beautiful glass-made sculptures. Sometimes I even buy german lustre plates and bowls, I just love the way they look.
My mum's always telling me I'll run out of room if I keep buying things, but I love them, and I'm fussy when it comes to being tidy so I haven't had any issues with finding room. At least not yet. 😛
As for hobbies, I love doing peaceful and quiet hobbies. I like reading, gaming, movies, and little crafty things. My passion though is for drawing. I own a graphics tablet and I draw whenever my health allows it. If it were not for my chronic pain, I would have loved to have become an animation artist.
Sometimes I go out for walks, and I love animals so I help out where I can with stays and injured wildlife.
And i have to agree with some of the posters above, finding old childhood toys is always fun and brings back good memories. I bought a bag of Yowie toys online not long ago, I really miss Yowie's, putting together the little animal toys was always so much fun. It was good to own some again. 🙂

I like collecting all sorts of things. My children's milk teeth which I keep dated in zip lock bags, bits of hair. Oh and I used to buy fossils in Melb so I keep those in one of those see through tackle boxes. I also paid good money for 2 small meteorites. I also have a dead dried up scorpion stashed somewhere. Its a nice size. All sorts of really nice sea shells, corals all boxed ( purchased from reputable store) and shark teeth.
I try not to collect so many bags and boots now. I don't want to be like those hoarder people on the tv

Something that i collected and something that i collect now would be back when i was younger i collect American baseball cards and australian ones. i then moved onto collecting Fantasy Art cards like from the hobbit or some sci fi shows. I'd then take my most favourite cards and get the enlarged so i could frame them and give them away as gifts.
Favourite Hobbies
one of my most favourite hobbies of all time is to take a camera and go exploring. one thing i love about living next to a river is that i can walk up and down along the banks and find all sorts of lovely relaxing spots to sit and have a break or to snap some photo's. It's certainly a way to help me relax.

Hi Deano, Simona and Reaper Bird,
It is great you have all posted here and resurrected this thread. I really like some of your collections and hobbies!
Do you find that some times you just don't have the time or energy to enjoy your hobbies and interests? I find I really need to ensure that I make the time when possible.
I like to draw and take photos as well. A couple of you mentioned these things.
Being creative can be so inspiring, no matter what you are creating!
Living near a River Deano, that sounds excellent!
Cheers all from Mrs. Dools

Yeah, sometimes I can't enjoy my hobbies or interests because of physical or mental illness. I know depression can really make me flat some days that not even my favourite things make me feel any better. I often don't have motivation either.
Also sometimes there are social restrictions. Like not knowing anyone with similar interests, or having to do something alone because no one else is interested.
Actually this thread is kind of refreshing, I don't often get to talk about my interests with other people, or hear about what others find enjoyable (I have a lack of friends right now.) So it's been nice sharing my interests, and hearing everyone else's. 🙂
PS. Going out the river is so peaceful! Makes me wish I could drive, I'd go out and explore it more often if I could! ^_^

Hi Reaper Bird,
I sometimes enjoy participating in my hobbies and interests by myself, my husband doesn't have the same interests, so at times when I am trying to enjoy something I like it can become too difficult!
Even taking time out to read a book can be a hassle if my husband thinks I should be doing something else! Ha. Ha.
I recently met a couple of like minded ladies who enjoy handicrafts, so I plan to try and join them a couple of times a month when possible.
I quite often enjoy a day to myself to pursue the things that I enjoy doing with out interruptions. It can certainly be more entertaining doings some things that enjoyable with others for sure.
Hopefully you will find ways to do things you like by yourself.
Motivation is not always easy! I try to plod alonga nd slowly make progress.
Cheers for now from Dools

Hi Simona,
Second hand shops and Op shops certainly do have some bargains! The Church I attend actually has a trash and treasure market every couple of months. Most of what they try to sell is donated.
Sometimes you can find some great bargains!
You mentioned hand bags, I was at a girlfriends the other day and saw she had put a cactus plant into an old handbag! It looked really good. Quite creative.
Some people have wonderful ideas.
Cheers from Dools

I like collecting fine china plates and cups. Mainly with tiny fresh looking blue flowers. Sort of old English sort of china.
I also like collecting rare books, ones with beautiful hard back old fashioned covers. I am choosy about what I read. So the books are mainly like stories that encourage you and such.
