The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hi lil quirky, & all,
Re: buttermilk. Google, if you want, but for me, the answer reminded me that there are some things I'd rather not know! I'm happy to imagine it is simply very much creamier than the usual full cream milk - I intend to forget I was wrong about that.
& since it's been rainy & cold fors so many, the fire is indoors, under cover, warming up the cafe so well that you can put your bread on the top shelf above the flames, & get some toast within a few minutes, turning the bread once.
Or if you like, make it the same as when toasting mmMarshmallows - on the end of a stick, rotating the bread near the flames. 😸
The ceiling is high, with internal beams, so I could have my hammock high above the fireplace, for winter warmth.
We have such an open & airy place when the weather is fine, & all the windows are open, but just now, it's cosy & comfortable.
BB Cafe is so versitile, it's whatever we want to make of it. So, wheter new or old members, come, pull up a chair, bean bag, or lie on the pool tabe with me in the sun, whenever it is out, & take a load off for a while, listen to the birds, the chatter, the sounds of a busy kitchen in the background, & give our furry friends a pat & cuddle, & don't be too surprised if they ask for a taste of your food.
mmMekitty - wondering what's for breakfast... 😸?

Lol, hi lil quirky,
I had to Google buttermilk myself, even though I always have some ready in the fridge lol.
Apparently it's a fermented dairy drink... ugh I couldn't imagine drinking it straight up.
I only use it in baking recipes.
No wonder I need to use it, being fermented makes me happy.
Oh the fires can be anywhere you please!
Inside, outside and multiple ones on the go.
I'm surprised the weather forecast for our area is raining tonight, tomorrow and many days next week.
Out come the buckets again!
I seldom bother looking at weather forecasts lol.
Wow so your school's rooves caved in lil quirky?
I'm surprised you had to GO into school with destruction like that about.
Yeah I saw my kids laughing so much about the BeReal photos of their friends on that app, I HAD to join up.
I'm enjoying it! It's funny how about half the time the PING goes off (it goes off at random times of the day or night) I'm actually talking with one of my children lol. The other half so far, I'm cooking or gardening.
Sometimes I'm talking with one of my children whilst cooking or gardening hahaha.... ahhhh enjoying a calm life.
How EXCITING peeps!
We're into the 1980's YAY!!
Perms were still very much the trend. I only had one and that was it. My poor hair took AGES to recover lol.
U2 were becoming popular in Oz, still "alternative" then. My alternative friend made me a mixed tape of their songs which I still have! She married a Rock Star later on, travelling the world. I must text to see how she's doing?
We stayed in touch via letters! Now it's as simple as texting.
What's everyone up to tonight / today?
Love EM

Hi all,
For breaky I might make some waffles and ice-cream if you like, with strawberries and Ice magic with hershies (can't spell) strawberry syrup, and you can add whatever toppings, I'll lay out a bunch, tell me what you would put on your waffles?
Buttermilk, looked it up, very interesting.
Tonight I'll probably have some late night toast on the fire, yum!
And yea, some roofs caved in but it wasn't too bad, like only a little, and they blocked off the areas at least, and it was on a friday so they could do repairs over the weekend (although today the places were blocked off again so atill havent been fixed).
BeReal does sound like fun, but I feel it will just be another distraction that I don't have time for at the moment because of school, and I am probably not allowed it anyway, anyone here at school?
We meet again quirkywords! : ) and I guess some self care might need to take action here, go treat yourself, I'll take you to the bathroom and we can have a lil quirky get together and treat ourselves if you like, nails, hair, lil bit of make-up if you like, crank up the tunes, have a sing and dance along, others can join if they want, we can do some skin care stuff which I know nothing about (same wth make-up).
But in real life, what makes me feel better is when no one is in the house, you put the music up loud and sing your heart out, or dance or both!! : )
Tonight I will be procrastornating my homework which is due tomorrow by writing this, what about everyone else?

Hey quirky! and lil quirky!
Hey everyone, you can post here too! Everyone is welcome in the BB Cafe.
Quirky, my eldest D had serious post covid fatigue. She pumped Vit C (not the regular Vit C), you can get it from Health Food stores or online. She also took a specific tasteless, liquid Iron Supplement that goes in OJ at night, you can get this from the chemist. Might be worth consulting a naturopath.
Took her a while to get on to the combination but she's miraculously well now.
I wish you health and abundance quirky.
lil quirky, it's a LONG marathon finishing High School (and Uni too)... but a friend whose now completed her Clin Psych Masters told me that the reason they call the Schools of different modes in Uni, "Disciplines" is that it takes discipline to complete them! Even more than intelligence.. my question to her had been WHY had I scored so much lower than my friends in High School, like for years I'm saying, and yet they didn't go to Uni or finish after they'd started even though they wanted to?
I got low grades in High School... got into Uni by a miracle then completed 3 degrees...
Because you had Discipline was her answer.
Chai Lattes on the menu this morning. Crusty sour dough bread with ANY toppings you desire...
I'll have roasted tomatoes with poached eggs and Bernaise sauce this morning, yum!
Lunch is happening too lol Chinese Noodle Salad with roasted slivered almonds on the menu..
It's the 80s now! What a time lol.. any funny memories peeps?
Talk soon!
Love EM

Hello everyone, hope you are all safe from the nasty weather in some areas of Australia.
Today, I am not complaining about the clouds over head, because it's warm & not a downpour in sight. I'm sad for those people caught up in the weather, floods & losing so much. Again. It's been so full-on this year. So, I am grateful I am where I am, evidently high enough to not have to worry even during a massive rain event. I know how dangerous those flood waters can be, how unpredictably high & fast they can rise. So, I urge you, if you are at risk, please stay up to date with the warnings, alerts & advice. Prepare to leave in the event you have to. Go sooner rather than later, please.
I don't even live in the states where this nasty weather is happening now, & it worries me, because I worry for the people who are there.
Hugzies for everyone,
mmMekitty

Good evening everyone, how're your nights going?
I have not been here as frequently as before, as things going up and down... I rather not talk about it because I'm tired at this point.
I watched the news and realised how bad the flood situation is... Mekitty how are you, great to hear you live somewhere high enough🙂 do you live in somewhere hilly? I used to stay in a guesthouse which was located in the downhills in the wet season couple of years ago, we went to the bunnings for preparing pouring rain and flooding...
Hi EM, great to hear that your daughter's recovery, how are you recently? I have been having mild fatigue issues for years, it became my friend lol... I would like to have a cup of milky chai latte and rice noodle leftover please 😊

HI OTR. Are leftover rice noodles like some other foods, better when leftover, & reheated the next day? I've wondered if that's what I need to do to make a fried rice that tastes like fried rice ought to taste. I just haven't made it work for me.
I know my (ex-)step-mother's home-made chicken soup always tasted even better on the next, or next or even the next day after that. It was great to start with (except I didn't like the little livers or kidneys, whatever they were).
Later, I am going to try an omelette with spinach (thawed), black (sliced) olives, feta (crumbled) & ham (short, thin strips), ... & maybe I shouldn't, but I will add a little tasty cheese (grated) just before folding over. I don't add salt or anything else. There is plenty of salt in the brine the feta is in, & the sliced black olives, too, & some in the ham, (from ham steaks - not using a whole ham steak for one omelette, either).
.😺Odd dinner? Maybe - I just want to see how the feta goes in an omelette, or toasted sandwich. Since I'd use more in a sandwich, along with the tasty cheese, I have opted for the omelette.
I hope everyone is alright & safe tonight.
OTR, Although in 2011, we lost power for 18hrs, we did not have water coming into the flats where I live. Other surrounding areas weren't so fortunate. We could get to the local shops, because the roads weren't flooded over.
Whenever it rains a big puddle forms at the base of the stairs to the back of the local supermarket & hops, near me. I would like a couple pairs of rubber boots when that happens.

[Grinning cat face] Yum, that feta did go well in my onelette, though it didn't really melt.
Sorry, I can't stay up tonight, too uncomfortable in my legs, yawning too... (Little red cat climbs rope ladder into hammock, does a single 360° turn, sinks into hammock,) [zzz]

Good Morning Everyone,
It has been nice catching up.
I woke this morning to find my mother duck with 10 little ducklings swimming in the pool. They must be about 10 days old. I haven't checked the nest as she is very protective but I am relieved that they survived the rains. I have made a ramp for them to get out of the pool as they are still too little to jump out. Hopefully mum will lead them to the exit.
Have a great day where ever you are.
