The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Good morning everyone,
EM, it's great to see you.😺I haven't seem you for quite a while. It's lovely to hear how your extended family are as caring & kind as they are. & you've found a good mechanic.
I like the idea of marshmallow icing. While it's melting, I suppose you could add food colouring to them, or some flavouring? For a while now, I feel inclined to experiment, so, think I might try myself. I haven't been so successful at cake, but icing? I've wondered what to try. Of-course, I'm not supposed to be including so much sugar in my diet, but that sounds too yummy to ignore. I suppose, if I felt really energetic I could separate & whip up the whites with less brown sugar (what I have already or honey?), some sweetener, Or maybe if I get some smooth jam or jelly, like apple jelly, tht could be interesting... Or I still have some cinnamon? What do you reckon? Anyone?
Oh, but, I might need a better bowl, metal, as I recall, perfectly clean, too. I don't suppose my little mixer stick could do the job easier? I do have to be mindful of my body, so I might have to leave this idea to someone fitter than me, for now. 😾Still healing on the left, bursitis on the right. Grr.
It is pretty good exercise, this cooking, especially mixing, kneading & rolling out dough, as would hand-whipping cream or egg whites... or any bulk food preparation... stew anyone? I'm cutting vegies & meat. That's exercise, & stress relief in one!😹
As is mixing up a large bowl of pancake mix, mmm, strawberry this morning? Sounds good to me.
Out for a walk today, hope the wind isn't too freezing, because it's supposed to be sunny.

Happy Friday indeed to all cafe dwellers,
I am sizing up a large slice of carrot cake today.
What do you love to see in the cake selection at the cafe?
I love the choice of pastries and good old fashioned carrot cake with cream cheese frosting with crunchy walnuts. Yummo.

Oo, shh... late night snacker me, with my claws tucked in so no-one will hear me going into the cupboard for some carrot cake, only, since I like the buttery icing, I'll have to whip up some, quietly. Can I do that quietly? I don't want to disturb any 'Happy Nappers' around the fireplace, do I?
I also like Black Forest Cake, if it is made with no trees. 😺
Or the custard pies, like those at my local bakery. The custard is higher than the edge of the pastry. Last time, she had made a nutmeg smiley on mine. Just like:🙂
...& Chocolate eclairs,
But I do want savoury muffins, warmed up with something like a creamy dip with chives. Or cheesy. Or cheesy & with chives.😹or herbs, with feta & spinach.

Good evening everyone,
still not used to the new version of the forum...😂
I would love to see more things like lemon, ginger, and cinnamon on/in the cake. add it a bit of spice to match my coffee ☕
Savoury cakes are good but not my favourite, I prefer savoury pies 😂
What are your weekends gonna be?

Good morning BB Cafe peeps!
FIatlux oh the ducks!! how sweet 🙂 LOVE the pastries here lol.
Hey Matchy, OTR and ALL! So glad the Cafe is open to business.
mmMeKitty, oh yeah marshmallows make great icing. You can microwave it and yes add food colouring. Then you can use a rolling pin to flatten it out and cutters to make the shapes you want. It's fun.
One year I made this icing to go over Piniata cakes for my multiple children's birthdays omg 8 cakes per cake I needed to bake. Then cut a hole in the middle of 6 cakes to fill with lollies when they cut them. The marshmallow icing has a name - eludes me now lol... but I rolled the leftover icing into little balls for around each cake. This endeavour took me a whole week!
Another one is ganache. 50 / 50 cream and chocolate. Just melt both together in a metal bowl over a pot of par boiling water and stir. It keep in the fridge for a time. So LUXE!
No soccer today. I can hear the Brush Turkeys scraping in my garden, hmmm.
My chickens are calling me for their brekky so I'd better get on.
My children have formed a Futsal team together with reserves. This makes me so happy after our family was shattered. Things haven't totally gelled but we're all trying. They start playing this week! So we're off to get the shin pads, joggers, socks today.
Cheer loudly on Tuesday nights please! hahaha.
Have a wonderful day everyone
Love EM

Hello OTR, the day is clear here, with a rather chilly breeze, these days, & doesn't look like changing much over the week.
I try to encourage more savoury & herb flavours, (though I'm not into the hot & spicy), treats because there are so few, compared to how many sweet treats. I know, this risks more salt & as with sugar, I need to have less.
I'm not sure what would satisfy the need to care for my health & the psychological pleasure & sense of feeling good when having a treat. I know it's an illusion, trying to meet an unfulfilled psychological need with food, BUT... 😼
I suppose I'll be doing more online food shopping. 😾All the usual stuff, too.
We need a lot of patience while working out this new forum. Don't try to tackle everything all at once, just a small bit at a time, & we'll get there. 😸
Warmly all,
mmMekitty

Hello all,
Speaking about the food I went to the shops today (Coles) and there were frozen sausage rolls with gooey cheese in the middle! It piqued my interest, I nearly bought them but didn't. I wonder what they would taste like? Might be a bit too much, I know you can buy pies with gooey cheese from some patisserie locally, I haven't bought one I can imagine they would be a bit rich.
However, now I'm in the mood for a sausage roll. Can I have one please with a flat white? I'm over near the door so I can roll myself home 🙂
Leisa
