No known trigger

Hi,

I have been on and off with anxiety and depression for about the last 15 years. Initially it was triggered by stress with uni exams and people pleasing. Once that phase of my life was done I have found myself in and out of the cycle to the point I sometimes now don’t even know what is triggering me? I find it so difficult when I can’t attribute this feeling to a cause.
just wondering if anyone else is this way?

Hi D Walsh,

Im be sorry you are feeling this way.

I understand anxiety is difficult and sometimes we can’t pin point the triggers.

For me I had an anxiety disorder OCD…….. I was stuck in a vicious cycle and with the professional help I received I’ve now broken free of the cycle.

Have you noticed if your anxiety is a mental trigger?

Have you been able to seek professional help?

Hello D Walsh, that previous 'stress with uni exams and people pleasing' can easily be transferred onto another type of anxiety as it did for me, if something has finished, doesn't necessarily mean it's gone because that trigger can then happen with something else, for example, if you have to check the back lock several times may also mean that you need to touch the bench a few times as well.

If OCD is present, then the same thought can regurgitate again and again.

Are you able to see your doctor for a diagnosis, this will help you to try and sort out these triggers.

Geoff.

Thanks for your interesting post which many can relate tp.

Petal and Geoff have given supportive helpful replies.

Sometimes I have spent lots of time wondering what caused my bipolar or what triggers or what causes different reactions and it is frustrating when you cant pinpoint a reason.

So sometimes worrying and trying to find a trigger can be stressful in itself.

i agree seeing a doctor is a good idea.

Thanks for all the replies.

I have a great psychiatrist who has always suspected my anxiety comes when I have pushed myself too much. I don’t think I have for this current bout. I think I have anxiety about my mental health and I constantly self check for symptoms which I can always find if I dig too much.
