Hi, I’m new, I’ve had anxiety since I was 10, am now 50 and currently having a bit of a relapse of anxiety. I tend to overthink my anxiety and right now I’m scared of driving to work in the morning because I ‘may’ have a panic attack. I take a lot of medication for anxiety however I do realise that when it comes down to it , it is my thought processes that cause the anxiety and also that can beat the anxiety. I’m just tired of being anxious all the time-have honestly had enough of this anxiety crap, but don’t know how to fix it

thanks, Mick

Hi there op , and l'm sorry about how things are going.

I've had belts of very bad anxiety of around 6 - 12mths, at times. Just as one example, l was working from home doing office work and over a few yrs become more and more isolated. l was married and had 1 daughter but they knew nothing of it bc l hid it. But l couldn't leave the house for 12mths, couldn't even get out to the bus to greet my daughter , or down to the shop. l couldn't believe what was happening to me, think my w suspected but never pushed it and l'd just make excuses for not going somewhere.

Unfortunately though , l only found one remedy and you nailed it. l had to fix myself and get this damn crap out of my head. l started with getting out to the bus stop, then the shop , then walks, then shopping centers and people, and just tried to face it more and more. lt took 3 or 4 mths and l had relapses over the next yrs , but l eventually l could basically just get out again in normal ways. And l quit that home office job.

l realize that was just me and my situation , but that's how l've fixed it every time as l really just could not find another way.

Good luck anyway and l hope you can show it who's boss one way or other.

Hi Mick,

Welcome to the forums. I am sorry you have been feeling anxious, but I know how you feel. And yes, you're right - anxiety is crap! Have you seen a psychologist or doctor about your anxiety? Meds do help, but as you said you need to target the thought processes, and a psychologist will help to do this. Seeing one really helped me overcome my anxiety.

I hope things improve soon,

Jaz xx
