Losing weight

I started taking medication for my anxiety 2 weeks ago and have significantly reduced appetite. I feel hunger every now and again but I don’t feel like food. I used to be a chocoholic and I no longer crave any sugar/sweets/chocolate it’s like a switch has been flicked but I feel like this happened before I started the medication.

I also have Diarrhea most days, again, a possible side effect of the medication but I feel like it started before I started the medication

I have tmj pain in my temple, ear and jaw..

it feels like I am falling apart. I have gone from 60kg to 57kg in 2 weeks and the more weight I lose the more anxious I get. Sorry I’m rambling..

Is it anxiety causing it? Medication? Or something else that my dr has missed?

Hi Island 11,

Thank you for sharing 🙂

I know how you feel - I have been taking anxiety medication for about 7 months now, and I feel it also may interfere with my weight.

Sometimes anxiety medications can have these sorts of effects on people, especially with appetite. It could be a mixture of things like you said, but I would definitely recommend booking an appointment with your doctor to see what is causing these symptoms you're having - it sounds like they are causing you a bit of distress. By chatting with your doctor, they can prescribe you a different set of medication to try to see if that is a better fit for your body.

In the meantime, please take care of yourself and be kind to yourself 🙂 Please don't stress too much about what is causing this too! It is most likely something that can be easily fixed and I am sure that it is something that many other people have experienced too 🙂

I hope things improve for you!

xx
