Anxiety, Depression & Depersonalisation

Hello everyone

My names Nic and I'm 19 soon to be 20 and the past 3 and a bit years i have struggled with Anxiety,Depression and the main factor DEPERSONALISATION!! My anxiety and depression is slowly getting resolved and worked on which I'm very grateful for but the depersonalisation is something constant which puts me in such a crippling state where i can't move, can't leave the house and freak out to beyond extent. I haven't left the house in 3 months because of this and its horrible. Constantly feeling like I'm watching myself through someone else's eyes and feeling like I'm constantly in a dream or film and that nothing around me is real and its just all imaginary and its horrible. I was wondering if anyone new any techniques or any possible doctors/any medial team that can help me beat this and move on with my life.

Hi, welocme

Nic, thanks for writing in. A short story-

I'm 63yo and at one time in my life (1987) I had a workplace incident that threw me into a mild paranoia. I took off at least 5 times into the bush, the mountains to remain there forever. Each time I returned only to tolerate people and city life. I then had a therapist that I saw and initially thought it a waste of time. But he identified that I had issues that were about "being realistic" where my mind would create my problems. He taught me to ask myself what is real and what was imaginary.

Eventually I found a more definite direction in life- moving to the country, semi recluse not fully recluse, how to keep conversations short with those that like a natter in the street, having hobbies and distractions. All these changes took place over a few years and they changed my life. I also attended motivation lectures and read up a lot on positive thinking.

Yes, you need professional intervention but it will be worth your effort.
