Hello hiiamsam
Thankyou for your post,
I understand how you feel and it can be very nerve racking
but just remember that GPs are here to help and it’s a safe environment if you don’t feel comfortable there are other options
have you considered talking to a counseller on the phone?

hello and a useful post you made.
may I ask what concerns you about speaking with a gp? It can be difficult if feel your gp is not understanding. Though I was referred to a psych to get a second opinion but that is a different story.
I wonder how you might go with educating yourself with reading and apps on you phone? Have you considered any of these?

Hello Hiiamsam, we understand that opening up to somebody about any type of mental illness is not pleasant at all, it's something that most of us have feared, especially the first few sessions where we have to try and explain how and possibly why this has suddenly taken over our lives, but at this point, we don't have any answers as to why we need to talk with someone experienced in this field.
Being nervous is an understatement, we are petrified, believing no one will believe what we have to say, it's no different than telling your best friend who always thought that there was nothing wrong, only because you had been hiding it from everybody so well until finally, you were at home and then managed to break down while no one could see you.
Talking with a person on the phone the same comments are made, it's just that you can't see their face, but you have nothing to hide, you're struggling and only want to feel better, we don't blame you for that because we want this as well.
Have you thought about writing down everything that concerns yourself then all you have to do is pass this onto who you decide to visit, this may be easier than talking with someone on the phone where you will still be asked questions, and perhaps you could turn your back to the doctor while they read the document, but please we hope to hear back from you.
Geoff.
