Words of comfort, encouragement and wisdom

To all the beautiful people ๐ŸŒž

Words placed in a particular order can have a profound effect on us.

Words can bring us a moment of comfort, give us a different perspective, or change the course of our thinking and outlook entirely.

I would like this to be a space where we share quotes that have meaning to us or that have the potential to bring some comfort or encouragement to somebody, even if just for the moment in which they are reading it.

I will start.

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow." - Mary Anne Radmacher

Go gently with yourselves lovely people.

Another poem by Michael Leunig. One that my husband read at his mother's funeral

When the heart

Is cut or cracked or broken

Do not clutch it

Let the wound lie open

Let the wind

From the good old sea blow in

To bathe the wound with salt

And let it sting.

Let a stray dog lick it

Let a bird lean in the hold and sing

A simple song like a tiny bell

And let it ring.

Dear ๐ŸPamela,

Thank you for that beautiful Leunig poem. I really like the imagery in it ... i like everything about it.

To continue your and Mary's Leunig Fest:

Let it go,
Let it out,
Let it all unravel,
Let it free
And it will be
A path on which to travel.

Michael Leunig "Let It Go"

Hi all

Really enjoying the poetry. I don't have a Leunig gem but I love this quote:

When you come to the edge of all the light you have, and must take a step into the darkness of the unknown, believe that one of two things will happen. Either there will be something solid for you to stand on or you will be taught how to fly-Patrick Overton

Dear ๐ŸŒป birdy

Thank you so much for that Leunig's poem. Guess what? That was going to be my next piece - great minds think alike. That too was recited for my MIL.

Here is one from the Zen Wisdom and other masters (little book):

The foolish reject what they see;

The wise reject what they think.

Zen saying.

Hello friends,

This is from buddhist teacher and psychologist Jack Kornfield:

To bow to the fact of our life's sorrows and betrayals is to accept them; and from this deep gesture we discover that all life is workable. As we learn to bow, we discover that the heart holds more freedom and compassion than we could imagine.
