Affirming sexual orientation

One thing that really annoys me is when older women in the lesbian community tell younger women that they are not really lesbians because of some stereotypical reason like appearance. I had this experience when I was younger. I'm now 43. Coming out is not easy and there should be acceptance from within the lgbt community. That is my view.

Hi Victoria,

I agree with you. Coming out isn't easy and we gotta be supportive of others when they come out as oppose to questioning them. Sorry to hear you've had this experience. I hope with some awareness of the impact of how saying things like what they said to you affects people like yourself, those individuals will learn to be more supportive and accepting of one another.

Thank you S D. I think I am much better at looking after my own wellbeing now. Being over 40 is an advantage.
