What is a Community Champion?

You may have noticed that a few of our Forums members are labelled ‘Community Champion’. Community Champions are volunteers within the Beyond Blue Forums who:

  • have the time, skills and empathy to support other members regularly;
  • help to welcome new members;
  • are actively engaged members who help set the tone of the community.

Who are they?

Our Community Champions come from diverse backgrounds; some still work and study, some are retired. Some Champions focus on offering support with topics they know very well, while others offer broad support across many topics. This diversity of background and experience is valued highly.

Time commitment, and how Beyond Blue supports you

Team members from Beyond Blue meet regularly online with our Community Champions, both individually, and as a group. In these meetings we:

  • discuss posts and challenges;
  • provide guidance and training;
  • and support your health and wellbeing.

Being a Community Champion does not need to be a long-term commitment. You can take a break when you need to, or step down when you need to. Your health and wellbeing are our priority.
