Constant anxiety and am unsure why

Miskaye

Hi all,

Im a 25 yr old women with 2 young boys and currently 9 weeks pregnant. Ive suffered anxiety close to a year now. Im unsure why or how it began. I believe it may have had something to do with my situation at that present time. I was in an abusive relationship and felt stuck. I have since left and freed myself and my children from that but am not going through court process for care arrangement. I feel helpless and constantly tired of trying to keep my mind busy.

I wish everyday that i had done something different so i could have never got this disease.

Hi Miskaye, welcome to the forums and thank you for sharing with us.

Anxiety is common during pregnancy however I agree with you in terms of it stemming from your previous relationship. If it has been going on for at least 6 months and is significantly affecting your wellbeing, then I urge you to visit your GP for a professional diagnosis and treatment. Medication is one option, however an excellent alternative is talk therapy with a psychologist, and for your situation, particularly with a baby on the way, I recommend talking it through with a specialist psychologist.

Wishing you well and keep us posted.

Hey Miskaye,

Sometimes there is nothing you can do to avoid having anxiety so please don't feel as though your anxiety came as a result of something that you did. Don't ruminate over the fact that you have anxiety or wish you didn't have it, the first step to recovery is accepting you have it. But I can't stress more that it isn't your fault that you have anxiety. I agree with Crystal in saying that you should think about some form of therapy as I feel it will be very beneficial for someone in your situation.

Best of luck. Joel.
