Hi,
I'm 19 years old. I've been battling with an autoammune disease for 5 years now. I lost my virginity to rape at 15, I've been physically abused by multiple men and now to top it off my most recent partner has just slept with another girl. I left him. And it was so hard.
I keep asking myself: "is this all my life is ever going to be?", "is my life just going to be a constant mental and physical battle?".
I guess my question really is: how do you look at the positive side of life when everything seems to be going against you and you're bed ridden all the time?!
thanks ❤

Hey just keep swimming,
Welcome to the forum!
I'm so sorry to hear that you've endured such cruelty from men. Having a long-term autoimmune disease is rough. If you don't mind me asking, do you live with your family? Also, do you have a few supportive people in your life, whether family or friends, or even a neighbour? Emotional support is incredibly important, and you deserve this.
Have you had counselling sessions since the rape and mistreatment? It's important to be able to deal with the harsh emotional content of these incidents (even though it's hard and unpleasant), as otherwise it will be nearly impossible to start healing from these past events. Leaving your partner after he cheated on you was the best thing you could do for yourself. I know a few people who stay with partners after cheating, and the situation rarely improves or resolve itself.
Do you have hobbies you can do while you're bedridden, like read or do craft? There's a unique romance novel you might like that has the line Just Keep Swimming from Finding Nemo in it. It's called It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. It might not be your style of novel, but I thought I'd mention it 🙂 Maybe read online reviews to find out if you like the storyline.
I hope you can seek support, or already have some supports in place in your life.
It would be great to hear back from you 🙂
Best wishes,
Zeal

Hi Zeal,
Yeah I live with my family, which is nice because I always have people around me. They are so supportive too! Hobbies are a great idea! I'd really like to learn how to knit actually. Maybe i'll give that a go 🙂 That novel sounds really nice too, Thanks! I think I will start seeing someone so that I can talk more about my feelings and get through all of my mental problems.
Thanks so much for replying, you really did make my day! 🙂
