At the same time, general supportive comments from the community are encouraged. If you have concerns around suicide or self-harm, please phone our support service on 1300 22 4636.

dear Andrew, this must have been a big effort to post this comment but I'm so pleased that you have, and the Moderator has been first off the list to reply back to you, and I presume that they have sent a private email to you.
Andrew there are a multiple number of people here on the site that you can talk to, and as your post progress's there will be a few who regularly reply back to you, and please remember that most of us have been in the same position as how you feel, so we have the experience to advice and certainly support you.
I tend to think that your depression has started well before you turned 21, because it just creeps up on us, and before we know it it's too late.
Depression pushes us into a corner and traps us, so we can only escape from it by putting on a fake face, a mask that no one can see through, but if only they knew that we are so sad, only have negative thoughts and just want to sleep, but they have no idea how unbelievably depressed we feel.
Andrew can I suggest that you go and talk to your doctor, and please don't be scared of doing this, because the number of patients they treat who have some sort of depression is enormous.
He/she will be able to put you on a medicare plan where you are entitled to 10 free visits to see a any psych, but maybe they could bulk bill you, as your still a uni student.
If however you feel as though you don't want to finish the course then you could defer, because at the moment your desire to finish could be zero.
There are many other concerns which we would really like to talk about so I hope that you can get back to us. Geoff.
