I have been trying to see a therapist for ages now but haven't had time with school. I have a lot of trouble in social situations and I really struggle trusting. I have had one relationship that can be considered somewhat serious that I want to reignite. I'm about to start the IB and I'm stressed about it. I've also just returned from an exchange with people who were constantly mocking me. I just want to feel supported again. Looking for motivation to finally see the therapist an potentially discuss some things here 🙂

Hi!

I think that a therapist (or anyone of that matter) would be a good thing for you, someone to talk to, and to let know what’s up is really a great thing! I understand being nervous to go, it’s a hard thing sometimes, but I think it’ll benefit you.

I get the feeling with social situations, and with trusting people, it’s realyl hard sometimes to just talk or make a statement, so you’re really not alone on that one, I’m sorry people mocked you on your exchange, that’s honestly awful, especially when you’re away from home, I’m sure you’ll find lots of support here, from what I’ve seen, everyone here is really kind, and are quite knowledgeable on most situations, so they can be of help.

Let me know if you ever need something,

Sam

Hi justwanthelp,

You are certainly very welcome to express how you are feeling here. Sorry to read that your exchange experience was not all that pleasant for you.

I am wondering if you are at least able to write down three things that went well with the exchange. You don't have to share your thoughts here if you don't want to, it may help to consider something positive amongst the negative.

Hopefully you will be able to connect with getting some help and a person to talk to.

Are there things you can do to boost your own self esteem? It helps me to plan small achievable goals. For me it might be going for a walk 3 days a week and be physically active on the other days as well.

When we achieve a small thing, it can lead to feeling better about ourselves.

Hope you feel welcome here and comfortable to share how you are feeling.

Cheers to you from Dools
