Hi Tanye, welcome

I have little experience with your condition except general anxiety. I licked my anxiety totally but it took (for me) 25 years.

By far the greatest effects towards my recovery there was 1/ muscle tensioning exercises and 2/ seeking the spiritual guidance of a man called "Maharaji" (not religion.)

MTE's works!! find a quite place preferably lying down. Take deep breaths. Tension up your toes for 15 seconds as hard as you can, release, then your ankles, calves, knees, and so on right up to your head and face. Then tension up all your muscles, relax. Sometimes you can have an out of body experience, it happened once to me.

Google "YouTube Maharaji Prem Rawat sunset" and YouTube Maharaji Prem Rawat the perfect instrument"

There are many more of his and his wisdom and simplicity is unsurpassed.

Hey Tanye,

I also have been suffering with exactly the same as yourself, for the last 5 months.

I have had severe panic attacks and hypochondria/health anxiety for those whole 5 months nearly daily. It's so horrible and it saddens me that so many people have to actually endure the emotional roller coaster of panic attacks and health anxiety :(!

at first I was wondering why I was having panic attacks for no reason, when I wasn't feeling particualry anxious, and I soon figured out it was getting triggered by phsycical symptoms which absolutely scare the crap out of me, I'm obsessed with my chest more than anything, convince myself I have something wrong with my heart which then sends me into a panic attack, I get sharp pains in my ribs and it worsens with breathing in, tingling in the back of my head and stabbing pains across my face, weak muscles, numb feet, arms legs, sometimes it's just one numb arm and it sends me sooooo scared!! I also get severe shaking and trembling sometimes nearly al throughout the day... There's lists and lists of symptoms I could write here but just so you are familiar with what I'm going through to see if you're going through this too and see if you can use my coping mechanisms to help you 🙂 not that I cope too well with it but I can try and help as I am suffering like you 😞

when I get a pain or something of the kind I try to start breathing and calming myself then and there to try and not worsen the situation by having a panic attack, try spraying perfume on, as smells can bring you back to reality and can prevent an attack, put on some candles and also laying on your bed with your feet elevated can help during or to prevent an attack, also try and see someone to talk too, as talk therapy is very helpful. If you're like me and have heart pulpitations, especially while trying to go to sleep I try to put my pillow on my chest and under my head and it sort of blocks you from feeling it..

Also I wake from panic attacks through the night, if this happens to you too, (as it does to me from pain sometimes if I'm sleeping an odd way) try and breath through it and actually wake yourself up fully to calm down from it because I find if I try and go back to sleep before calming myself down its really difficult or I succeed and just wake with another one. hope some f this helped xx

dear Tanye, it maybe helpful for you to google this 'hypochondria and ocd, because there could be a chance that you do have OCD, however there are people who don't believe this to be so, so you will need to get a diagnosis from your doctor, and if you are not happy with their decision, then you need to go to someone else, however what you can do is ring the BB phone number which is above on this page.
Anxiety causes OCD and for me being a sufferer of OCD for 56 years, I personally believe that it is quite possible for people being a hypochondia to suffer from this as well, but if I can ask you whether or not you have a tendency to do repetitive chores often enough for you to worry about.
The site I have asked you to google has a hypochondria test, so perhaps have a look at this and would appreciate on what it has to say. Geoff. x
