Any personality quizzes such as the Myers Briggs test or ways to understand what I'm feeling emotionally so I understand myself more?

Hi all,
I feel like I don't know myself at all and get very confused at what I'm feeling
Does anyone know any quizzes to understand my personality more? Or even just a way to figure out my emotions (which I find incredibly hard to decipher as they seem to jumble together)?
Thanks, Imogen 🙂

Hi imogen56,
What a great opportunity you have, to get to know your self better. You are on a new and wonderful track.
What helps me when I forget who I am a bit, not sure of what I should be doing with my self, I do my 'circles'. Now I could talk about this all day but I will try and be brief!
On paper I put a circle and write 'me' in it, then I start drawing spokes out to other circles, in these I write the things in my life that are most important to me. So as an example, I might write, family, friends, career, home, travel/touring, music, nature, volunteering, spirituality, etc etc you get the idea. Now with coffee in hand I can kick back and look at these circles, what have I forgotten, what am I passionate about???
So now I have outlined the things that are important to me, I can then start to think about my long term goals in each circle, for example family, I need to talk to mum more often, spend more time with my son etc, then I can work it back to a short term goal, like, ring mum, NOW!!
I get passionate about the things in my circles, I'm not sure if that is emotion, I think emotions can often be a way of reacting to something, in a way I have been programmed with through my upbringing and life events. I try not to let emotions change the way I respond to life, I want to respond as I believe my true self should and it has taken time for me to understand who I am.
Don't ever hesitate to get professional help to work through this stuff, I couldn't have seen what was going on with me without help.
All the best, Jack.

Hey imogen56,
Thanks for your post. What a great question!
The biggest personality quiz that I'm aware of is the MBTI. This one is incredibly thorough, and I found it suited me to a tee. What do you think it might look like if you had a better understanding of your personality and emotions? Perhaps that might be key to knowing where to look.
The other thing that I'd recommend is journalling. You probably find that you can tap into that it's just a matter of how. I've discovered a lot of things about myself through this method. You could even try things like art journalling? I know one activity to use could be ripping through magazines and pulling out the things that you feel resonates with you.
There's a great book called 52 lists which is full of journalling prompts although you can access all the lists for free here - http://www.moorea-seal.com/p/52-lists.html Things like who you admire, goals, dream jobs.. This can help you get a bit more of an insight into what makes you 'you'.
I hope this helps 🙂

romantic_thi3f,
I will check out that test; I would also like to understand myself better. I write in a journal- I find it helps, to put my thoughts on paper. I will also try the circles thing Jack suggested. Thanks guys!

I journal sometimes but I think if I did it regularly it would probably help. The 52 lists thing also sounds very interesting and I'll look into it. I also am going to try your idea of art journaling. Since I am a visual thinker and deeply into the arts, I think this will help me understand myself more. Thank you! 🙂

Hi Imogen,
Have you been to this website 16 personalities? It' a good website that tells you your personality type but it also tells you your personality types strength & weakness, relationships, workplace habits, and more. It's free to use and they also write blog posts/articles. I found out I was a INFJ and definitely helped to know more about my personality.
Id be interested to hear your result, I made all my friends take test cause I was curious to know their answers ☺
You also talked about Journaling above have you heard of bullet journals they're quite popular at the moment and you can use them to track things like habits, mood, sleep. There's some great examples on pinterest and you make them all visual.
I hope these help ☺
