Hi there
I'm new to this forum and looking for some help.
My son has returned after many years to live with me and family. He is looking for a job, but finds it hard to get himself out of bed. He has also recently shared some of his beliefs with me which are very different to what I'm used to. He has admitted to using cannibas and having 'light' haluncinations. He didn't put it to me that way though, and it was more in context of apparent physchic ability. I have managed to get him to agree to go to headspace and get help with employment transition, and he said he may get counselling to.
I'm preparing for a long effort, but I really don't know how I'm going to get through this with work, family and other pressures too.
Regards John

Hi John,welcome
They say once a parent, a parent all our lives.
To put you at ease, I dont think his weed habit nor psychic delvings are of much concern in the scheme of things. I think it is relevant to monitor but some topics to do with our kids that are over 18 is for them to judge. Put your boundaries in place, give him a wide berth and leave him to come to you uf and when he wishes.
Most of us experiment with religion and alcohol etc to find what fits in with us then after a while we settle more

Hi John2000,
Welcome to the forums and thanks for being here.
I'm not sure how helpful or supportive I can be as I'm not a Dad, but I'm thankful that you're here anyway and thought that I'd welcome you.
I think personally the fact that your son agreed to go to headspace to get some counselling is an enormous step. Seeing that something is not okay, and agreeing to get some help can take a very long time, but it sounds like with your son it's happened quite quickly. I hope that the fact he's getting some help brings you some comfort even if it's not a lot.
The other thing I'd mention is that the fact that you're here shows me how well you'll deal with all of the other pressures in your life. Because you're considering them now. Often people who struggle are those who don't consider the impact and don't get help until after it's hit them with full force. Where as you're coming in here with almost a preventative angle - I see that as a strength.
