Hi Everyone,
Nice to meet you all.
Had been so stress recently. I am just want to share my story.
I joined a big company as 12 months contractor, my boss is happy on my work as he told me he will change me to permanent once there is opportunities available. There is a colleague resigned, my boss gave that permanent position to the guy who joined as contractor 3 months after me. Then the boss told me you will be next in queue. A year later, boss extended my contract to another 12 months as I did well on my work. Then there is another colleague moved to another team. So I asked and he told me to apply. After I applied and had interview, he told me he gave to external candidate which is more experience than me. However, the truth is he gave to a guy who joined our team as a contractor just 2 months ago. I am so upset and I found out the reason is because I am not good at show off. So even I did well on my work but he just prefer someone can sweet talk even can't do the work properly. I applied many jobs but I am not good at doing interview, so keep fail. In my mind, I think I am a stupid loser as others keep telling me you are so stupid. No one will believe what your boss said if they are in the same situation as you. Also they always say to me, you did so many times in interview and still not doing well in interview.
Thank you for listening, it is good to speak out.

Hello Dear Snowball_V..
A very warm and caring welcome to our forums….
I am so sorry that your boss keeps overlooking you for a permanent position….This is so unfair as he has said you were to be next in line…then didn’t hire you…for permanent work..
I think you must be good at your job because your employer keeps renewing your contract…
Is their a boss higher then the one you work for, that you could talk to about what’s happening with you being overlooked all the time…and how much you want to be made a permanent member of your work place?…
I also do no good at interviews, or am not really good at talking to people….I do feel very inadequate at interviews, and I think the bosses can pick up on that…..
Please don’t think your stupid..because your not, those telling you that you are, are being so disrespectful and hurtful towards you….people can be so cruel, because they want to feel better then anyone else….I think it’s their own insecurities making them speak to other people in a disrespectful way…..I am so sorry this is happening to you….
Please keep talking here when you feel up to it….we are all here for you, to help support you the best we can…
Kind thoughts,
Grandy..
I

Dear Snowball_V~
Welcome ot the Forum, it's good to see you again despite the reason you have for coming.
One of the really hard things I've found is that I tend to blame myself when in fact the problem is other people.
You are hard working successful person in your job -that is a very big thing. You do it despite not having English as a first language, and you keep on going even though you are badly treated. Those are all most important virtues, not everyone is as good.
I'd very much prefer you to someone who is able to smooth talk their way into positions.
I"\'m afraid you boss is dishonest, it is as simple as that. If your boss makes a promise, particularly one that keeps you -a good worker - from leaving then puts someone else on that does not really deserves it then it says nothing about you, it says a lot about your boss.
Any decent selector or employer will look at your work record, and that is what should count. At the moment I do not believe your age (which you worried about) is going to stop you getting a position somewhere else. We are starting to face a shortage of jobs for the first time in many years.
So what would you like to do - try to keep on where you are and see if someone more senior will recognize you talents, or keep on looking elsewhere too?
If you are in an interview why not say straight out that your English is OK, but not perfect and it has never stopped your working successfully? That can put it to one side, and let them see your performance.
There is no way you are a loser, just more honest and reliable than many

Hi Snowball_V,
Let me share my experience to you as an HR.
‘Showing off’ is as important as 'working hard' sometimes. This doesn't mean that you want to exaggerate your abilities or work results against your will. It just means that you need to let your boss and your team have a clearer understanding about your efforts and results.
Interviewers usually look at your past achievements and use them to predict your future. You have to give them that confidence and feeling of certainty.
I would suggest you to approach a career coach, who can help you identify your weaknesses and be better prepared for internal and external opportunities.
I‘d also suggest you to have a look at those jobs published by recruiters rather than employers. Cause even if you fail the interview, the recruiters can give you reasons of the failure and suggestions for improvement.
