Hi,

My name is Leanne and I am 45. I suffer from social anxiety and it causes me grief. My doctor wants me to try medication but I am too scared, I have purchased them but they are still in the packet. I do try and go out to the shops etc and after I have been I do give myself a little pat on the back.

does anyone else feel like this?

Hi Leaash, welcome

Some of us have felt the same. I tried 12!!! meds before the right one was for me. We humans are imperfect, some of us need a helping hand but the stigma has an effect on us. We have to discount all of these challenges and put faith in the professionals that know their craft and ignore those around us that have opinions based on zero professional ability in the mental health field.

The idea is that you get to a point whereby you are functioning to a better level. That might not end up fully cured but better than without the medications. Eventually you'll take your meds like drinking orange juice in the morning. A routine. Some go off their meds and fall, before they realise they should remain taking them.

So yes is the answer that some of us have hesitated in taking them. Have faith, the doctors and the psychs know more than us.

I'm glad you are here.
